    Ah excellent! A foobar convert!

First make sure you have the latest foobar (.9.1). After that, go to the components page (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/index.html) and download the "CD Burning Support" component. Stick it in foobar's components directory and you're set! Then you just select your tracks, right click, go to "Convert", then "Write Audio CD". Note that you WILL need to have Nero installed to use foobar's burner.

Hope this helps! Sorry I didn't see your earlier post.

    Re: The BitTorrent Helper Thread

i know that this was covered on the first page, but i'm having problems being connected as well as i'm not sure if i'm seeding the 5-31-06 show that i just d/l'd.....i've got my "seed indefinatley" clicked.

my xp firewall is down, but i'm leeching 7-16-05, however, i've seen other people leeching and seeding multiple shows.

but, when i look on bt community tracker, it's got my ip address on the list multiple times (i assume from me changing the priority of the '06 show) and it says that i'm sharing. so i guess i just want to be "connected."

i'd like to be able to give back, can someone help?

When you're seeding, the program in the bottom will not show you as connected. Are you connecting to peers, though? Does it say something like Peers: (3) 45 or something? The number in the () is how many peers you're connected to. If you're connected to them, you're seeding.

A lot of places are now blocking the default ports for security reasons, so it's recommended to use something else. I use port 50505. So, put that in as your port in Az and then allow that and the java app in Zone Alarm. I've had trouble with Zone Alarm in the past though, dealing with torrents (reason I uninstalled it), but see if you can get it to work. Just run the NAT test in Az and see if it's OK.

and seeds are the ones d.l. themselves?
Yes, the more you have open, the more it'll wreak havoc on your network. I try to download one or two at a time tops, but it really depends on your computer and internet speed.

And you've got seeds and peers backwards. Seeds are completed copies that people are distributed, while peers are literally your peers who are also downloading the files.

Start at the firewall and go from there. Make sure the right ports are open.

Ah. Well, I don't use that program so I really can't help you. There has to be a place where it says the speed you are uploading. If you're uploading at all, you're seeding.

Sure you can, but it may slow your system/internet down a bit. Just try it out and see if it's too bad.

that's what i'm trying to figure out now. it says my share ratio is at 85%, but it doesn't have "upload rate" by the status bar like it does if i keep the torrent in the "download" area as opposed to the "finish" area, if that makes any sense.

If your share ratio is 85% then you're definitely seeding. That means you've uploaded 85% of what you've downloaded (the total size of the show). Again, I don't use that program, so I can really help you with the "download" and "finish" area thing.

Sure is! On the tab with the torrent's name (hope you know what I'm talking about), go to "Files" then select the ones you don't want to download and right-click and go to "Set Priority" > "Do Not Download".

    This comes in quite handy.

EDIT: To get to the torrent's tab, in "My Torrents" double-click the torrent file you want to work with.

No problem. Also note that the file will still appear in the folder (as they all do as soon as you start the torrent) but it won't actually be downloaded.

Just didn't want you getting confused when you saw it there.

    CONFUSED!

ok i solved my earlier NAT problem (not sure how, but it's fixed!) but now, a got another problem...sigh

im d/ling 3 things right now, one's green and's chuggin along just fine, the other two are just sitting there being gay..er...I mean gray, and it doesn't even allow me to queue them. Both torrents have seeders, albeit only 1 and 2 respectivly but shouldnt these two torrents be at least snailing along?

Make sure in your program settings you've allowed it to download more than one at a time.

Or your green torrent may just be choking the others out.

Okay, I am a completely new user to this so I appologize ahead of time if I begin to annoy anyone. I've installed azureaus and am in the config wizard and in the NAT / server port options tab that comes up while setting up the wizzard. It says "Incoming TCP Listen Port: 43186". those numbers were there already, i didn't put them in. I click test and it says "Testing port 43186: NAT error" HUH?

I tested the ports 6881-6889 as well and it said the same thing. What should be in this field and what the heck does it mean?

I'd keep the 43186, but either way, you need to open those ports on your firewall. That's what the error is. See the first post in the thread for some help with that.

What file type are the songs? Most likely they are flac. You can use this if you just want to convert them: http://members.home.nl/w.speek/flac.htm

or to play and also convert them you can use this: http://www.foobar2000.org/

There is also a plugin for winamp if you use that.

If they are .shn you can use foobar (the link above) but you will need the shn plugin from the components page. There is also a plugin for winamp.

    Hi Folks,

I have been having some "computer woahs" as of late. Anytime I have my Azureus open, my computer runs RIDICULOUSLY SLOW. I have never ever had this problem before, I thought maybe because it was I was downloading two shows at once, but as soon as I stopped downloaded I restarted Azureus and the computer. I turned it back on, at this point I was just uploading torrents, but still, everything was running slow.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help.

There are none that I know of. Sorry. You'd only really get this if someone packed multiple shows into one torrent and that usually doesn't happen because the size would be quite big.

Az can be quite the memory hog, especially if other things are running in the background. You could try this: http://www.utorrent.com/

It's supposed to be a lower profile torrent program that uses less memory. I've used it a bit and it's pretty simple. Maybe there's a memory leak in your version of Az, so wait until an updated release and give it a try again, I'd say.

Ok, so I really need help now.....I've been reading and reading up for the past 2 weeks, and can't seem to figure things out. I have azureus...all I want to do is download the 7-13-2004 show at Darien performing arts center. I can't even find where I can download it. I also downloaded a file last night just to see if I could, and I have win xp, and it downloaded alright on it's own without the azureus. I'm getting the winamp with the plug in so I can hopefully play it......haven't tried yet. I also downloaded the smart FTP client, but I'm not quite sure what that's supposed to do for me? AUGH!! Please help me.....I have aim, my screen name is trippinbugs. Or just reply. Thanks a lot!!

I didn't see any 04 shows on Dreaming Tree, but it is the site for DMB torrents. If you post an ISO someone may help you. If you don't get any responses after a few days, PM me.

You might also want to try bt.etree. They often have older shows on there.

As for smart FTP, its a program for connecting directly to another computer and downloading (or uploading). You have to know the computers "address" be it IP eg 34.129.78 etc OR if they have a domain/dns service. You'll also need to have a user name and password. A lot of really generous people here on ants run these and you can check them out here.

What's with the "file" you downloaded? What kind was it? Did it play?
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
