Re: 2004 Summer Tour or 2005

I went to more shows in 2005 and saw lots of debuts for me but the shows had more standard and similar sets.

In 2004, more variation of sets, better encores, STJL, Recently, Pig in regular rotation... but then there was that 15 min blackhole known as Sugar Will every single show.

I voted 2004.

This is tough because I think I saw great shows both years, but let's go with 05 cause I love what the band did with Stand Up live. The album is a winner. I'd like to see Hello Again, Sugar Will and Good Good Time worked back into the setlist for 06. Based on the Winter 05 tour, I foresee summer 2006 being in the band's top 2 or 3 tours ever. (The one variable being the new album)

I think the band played better in 2005. Seemed like they were having more fun, but is just my oppinion.

I had some great 04 concerts, I loved the new songs and was the first to hear them in St. Louis!! But, I am going to have to go with 05. It was better as a whole, the new material sounded better live, they brought back some awesome old tunes, and the band seemed to be enjoying the hell out of themselves. I had more energy at the shows this year!! Not to discredit all the other shows I have been to though. Can't wait for this year!!!!!

I actually voted '04 just based on my Alpine experiences. '05 was amazing for songs like #40, #34, and quite a few other I hadn't seen yet. '04 was great for the same reasons, but for some reason the excitement of the new songs being played tilts me in that direction. Also, those sets were a little more diverse(to me, at least) since they weren't promoting an album. This year, it was always X number of Stand Up songs, one from every other album, and maybe a rare one thrown in there.

In '04 I got DIDO, Seek Up, all the new songs, etc. etc.

I love Crazy Easy I'm sorry

Woah! People really didn't like 2004 back then before people get into this thread and start voting, 2005 is winning 75-33.

I loved '04, hated '05 (has my lowest rated show ive been to was during that summer). Was seeing a lot of shows back then too. '05 was really the year that stopped me from devoting my entire summers to this band.

2005 DMB still sounded like the DMB that most on this board love. I think '04 was a better tour, as 2005 was littered with subpar material. But, at least it was mellow and free DMB playing it, instead of fast-tempo, driven DMB. All descriptions subjective, of course.

Bingo. This is similar to the 2009 tour which, admittedly ran out of gas toward the end. I think its excusable when you look at the amount of shows played that year - they toured from April to October including Europe & press tour for an album. It was pretty well loved when it happened.
