Can you trust Stubhub for DMB tix?

Headed to the Gorge this year for Fri and Sat night shows. We're getting lawn seats through the official site, but wanted reserved for the Friday show. I've been looking at Stubhub, and there's a bunch for just above face value in the uppers. I was wondering if anyone has good or bad experience with receiving tickets on Stubhub for DMB and insuring they are valid. Thanks!

Yes, you can trust Stubhub.


But paying above face for Gorge uppers is quite silly. Gorge is the easiest ticket of the tour, bar none. There will be lowers drops (good lowers) on LN/TM leading up to the shows. Also, people will be dumping lowers for face and uppers for below face on the boards.

Really? I've been in the past. Given that was 07-11, but I could never find a good reserved seat on LN/TM. Any heads up as to when to look?

Went to buy a Row 1 seat off Stubhub today because I'm tired of refreshing boards and have no tickets to any of the show I want so far. Went to pay for the ticket.. nearly 60+ dollars in fees and I don't get the ticket until about two days before the show. What a joke

you'll almost certainly get the ticket before that... it's just a placeholder that sellers put as a CYA measure.

Stubhub is 100% legit. Just as safe as ticketmaster. (And just as many fees)

Definitely not just as safe as Ticketmaster. There are fakes on Stubhub. They just guarantee you your money back or comparable tickets if they can get them. Nice, but you still may end up standing outside the venue with your dick in your hand after your stupidly overpriced ticket doesn't scan in.

Yeah, Ticketmaster actually issues/prints the tickets; they're 100% safe

Stubhub is just a bulletin board matching up random people claiming to have tickets with buyers willing to pay; all sorts of things can go wrong

It does seem weird that this dude has a row 1 ticket.. for a fairly decent price. I decided not to buy it. Not paying $60 bucks in fees.

My one experience with Stubhub (2010). I bought Alpine N2 Pit off there for $150 a couple weeks before the show. I believe I got the ticket in the mail and I decided to call either the venue or TM/LN (it was 9 years ago... having a hard time remembering exactly ) to make sure the ticket wasn't fake. Turns out it was fake. Stubhub was VERY helpful though and got me a legit Pit ticket very quickly so it all worked out. Also, I know the seller I bought from had a really good rating too; so, don't always trust the seller even if they have a good rating.

Not sure how much Stubhub has changed since then but I would say if you do buy off there, just do the extra leg work to make sure your ticket is 100% legit.

oh I'm almost positive they don't have seller ratings on there anymore. (Unless they're only visible on the desktop or Android versions... I use the iOS app).

I only buy college baseball tickets off there (on the cheap), and I don't see any seller info at all. Where do you see such info?

I'm actually not positive I'm going yet because I'll be at Gorge... but I figured it might be worth checking out since I live fairly close. Also plan to go solo b/c GF doesn't want to go and don't feel like coordinating this one with friends.

I've never had an issue with bogus tickets on resell sites.

The kudos I give stubhub is being able to shop with the fees added to the ticket price so you aren't shellshocked at checkout.

Only venue I’ve ever paid over face for stubhub is SPAC.

Any other venue shouldn’t be difficult to find through drops and the boards.

I've been using StubHub for more than a decade now with no issue. The best resale site outside of Ticketmaster

Basically what everyone has said...stubhub is legit. Basically Ticketmaster gave up trying to manage mass purchases/ticket brokers.

Advice...wait until the week before the show, the individual, non-broker tix will drop in price very fast. If you can wait until 1-2 days before the show, the brokers will drop to face on anything left.

Much as I hate scalpers, StubHub's customer service is excellent and if you end up with a fake ticket, or a ticket that doesn't match the description (i.e. obstructed view not being labeled as such, etc...) they will take care of you with equivalent or better tickets to what you purchased.

Someone over in the Alpine thread just bought an Alpine pair that were labeled as "center aisle" and ended up being seat #'s in the 60's, which is 30+ seats off the center aisle. They offered him either equivalent center section seats that were for sale on the site or a $200 credit if he wanted to keep the seats.

Where they really kill you is fees - they nail the buyer AND the seller with a bunch of fees. So if you are just looking to unload some tickets that you bought for face value, you have to mark them up like 15-20% just to get back what you paid.

I just sold 3 Deer Creek N2 pavilion tix on SH earlier this week. They were way off to the side and not generating much interest here and I didn't want to get stuck trying to unload them in the lots, so I threw them on SH and LN verified resale. They were $85 uppers, and with the LN/TM fees I paid about $310 for the 3. If you list them for say $103 each, you'll only actually get about $260 back after SH takes their piece. They also hit the seller with fees, so a $103 ticket actually costs them about $120 each even though I as the seller am only getting about $87 each back.

I ended up marking them down to $99 each, they sold, and I got $252 out of the deal.

yep - pretty epic double-dip I wonder why eBay hasn't take a page out of Stubhub's playbook yet.
