I think they could kill it after a midset DDTW or R &R something to cool if off and transition the vibe a bit.. Agreed it's a fantastic song...
Maybe it's saying that Dave just isn't writing songs for 20,000 people .. his quieter stuff seems to be where he's happiest... windows, VITR, Death on The High Seas.. Bismarck... etc...
He probably never intended to. I mean I'll Back You Up isn't exactly a banger when it's the first song you play for the musicians you want to back you up.. and the early version of recently isn't either...
Hell I'd say he tried too hard to make Samurai Cop an anthem...when it could have just been a good solid Dave solo song.. No need to make it U2.. but it's obvious that's what he thought it needed for the live setting..
