Im glad someone put up a post like this because I was just about to create yet another LWS post. Point in hand........My LWS cd is totally fucked and I would like another copy but here is the catch. I just recently found out about the "karmageddon" master and I would like both versions so I could compare (you are correct, i do indeed need a life). So if anyone could be so kind to send me both versions, it would be great. I have tried searching for them but all I have found is everything BUT mp3 versions.

It's unfinished, it's half the songs from Busted Stuff with versions I don't find to be as complete as the final ones (i.e. Raven, BEF)

As far as song choice goes, yeah. But it isn't done. JTR, Monkeyman and SUAD aren't what they should be which is why it was never finished

I rank the lillywhite sessions just under BTCS...after i remastered it. LW sessions are fantastic...if you were around when it leaked, you were claiming travesty that it never saw the shelves.

The Big Eyed Fish on tLWS is a billion times better than the one on Busted stuff, as is Raven as well.

Then you go off and say JTR, Monkeyman, and SUAD aren't what they are supposed to be?! WTF?

Go listen to the Busted Stuff version of BEF and then immediately put on tLWS version. If you don't hear the intricacies that are present in tLWS that are NOT in the BS version, don't comment on tLWS again please.

Not necessarily but I feel like SUAD and JTR are missing energy inherent in the songs.

Does anyone have a perfectly mastered or remastered SUAD? I feel like my version doesn't do it justice

Raven, Busted Stuff, Grey Street....

BEF BS and LWS are different songs in my book. i love them both equally. as is Bartender.

Somewhat agreed. I'd say Raven is 3 to 4 times as good as it was on tLWS, with Raven being one of my favorite songs. However, I'd also put Grey Street as better on BS. Kit Kat Jam is equal. I think it works extremely well as an instrumental, as well as with lyrics. Carter's work on KKJ on BS is perfect.

YNK is in my top 5, however...Monkey Man + JTR + SUAD > YNK + WAYG.

They could have let that album go as is and it would still be just as good. Hell, JTR alone makes it solid.

I think any changes they made to Captain would have turned it into something less than what it is now, possibly the best DMB studio recording in existence.

This one sentence is the difference between whether a band with any self-respect releases an album or not. Apparently at that time, they had enough to not release it. Apparently in 2005, they did not.

When you release unfinished, unpolished material, you will shock people with how amateur you can sound. ie: Stand Up

Some of the lillywhites, IMO are good enough to have been on the radio the day after they were finished. Some however, would have been glaring gaps on the album that would have needed massive live improvement (that they got anyway).

JTR on lillywhites is an unfinished mess. The vocals sound like the first take.

I think the Lillywhite Sessions, had they been finished and done up, would be equal to BTCS. I think the session are more complex sounding and I listen to them more or as much as BTCS today.

Actually I can't agree with that. People are a little bit too obsessed with these unreleased rough cuts, to the point where they unfairly ignore or denounce the recorded and released material. (see: any of a 1000 arguments made in past posts about X lillywhite being "better" than y, z song from a, b, c album)

They are what they are. Great collection of songs, some rough cuts, some near final cuts, unreleased yet not gone at all. Regardless of what the album "coulda have been", it really doesn't matter because we have THESE cuts, and we have some of the songs still around in the regular live rotation.
