I am sure that if prdstmnky36 said what he said, there is a good reason and facts that happened in the past, probably on these boards.
This remastering thread has been based mainly on pre-94 SBDs, webcasts, pre-FM sources etcetera, other sources were quite minimal, but I have many interesting ones that I could use in the future.
What I can do, if dealing with “other” sources is over our border, would be creating a mailing list for these other remasters, so nothing stays on this forum.
Anyone that might be interested in that, could DM me with his email, and, when is time, I could use that method for particular posts.
I love where people draw these arbitrary lines for what's acceptable. Perfectly fine to make illegal copies of Sirius streams but not okay to share captured IEM audio? I'm sure an 18 year old recording of an IEM won't rock the band's boat too much.

no one cares about IEMs anymore. they were crazy popular during the 01 tour partly because of their elusiveness. but not so much anymore. besides, its not even that hard to find them these days with a little digging. i cant imagine anyone gives a crap about using that pull for this purpose, certainly not the band.

I am sure there were issues in the past, most likely because in a IEM you can hear stage banter which is something private to the band. I don’t think it is a copyright issue, more a privacy issue

correct. that was the issues with IEMs being spread on the boards

Link for the Canadian show (Corel Centre 2002.04.20) has been deleted. I will keep on posting here only recordings that follow DMB taping policy. You can always DM me for more info.
Thank you so much for these! I have been loving the 2000 California show. The Gorge 2011 would be awesome...random song from that Gorge show, but best performance of Baby Blue Dave solo in my opinion, he nailed it.
Hey Xcacel,
Is there a way to clean up Deer Creek sirius show this year? Was there, one of the best weekends because Tim was out. I would love a cleaned up version (if possible) to experience DMB 4.0 without an electric... fingers crossed!

I don’t hate Tim’s sound, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t cool to hear the band without an electric guitar blaring for the first time in nearly 15 years. That said, who ever thought Tim Reynolds would be a permanent fixture in DMB all those years ago? Fans begged for it. Here he is and now everyone hates him wants him gone
Many people asked for Gorge 2011, so here it is, in a new, remastered version.
I'll make different posts for each night, here is night 1.

The remastering process:
When I have searched for a source, I have seen that there was a matrix available, but I have preferred not to use that one. The result I got was unsatisfactory for me, so I have used the video broadcast, extracting the audio.
This is certainly a lossy source, but, I to my ears was still better than the matrix, or at least, more adapt to a remaster.
For this show, I have used a slighlty different approach. In fact, I have used the approach described in this video by Jonathan Wyne, one of the creators of iZotope mastering suite.: https://youtu.be/UTiuavrGvqw
In my flowchain, I have inserted the Match EQ plugin, using a reference track,, which, in my case, was Don't Drink the Water from Listener Supported. I have followed those steps, after that, I did apply some EQ correction, then I have worked on dynamics and basically didn't apply any compression.

Note: some of you might ask: if you choose to rework the audio of the video broadcast, why didn't you upgrade the audio in that video too? I did that, and I will post tomorrow on the link of the upgraded video.

Love what you do. Is it my imagination, but I swear I hear tiny clicks between tracks on 2/21/97. They are not present on the original. I’m hearing them from intro to Recently and Jimi to WWBOM.

Thank you for this! The other 2 nights are much better sets and have guests like Warren Haynes and members from his solo band sitting in. If you get a chance to look at N2 and/or N3 from that weekend it would be amazing!
I'd like to request 8/28/15 and 8/29/15. The tapes from these shows are incredible! Really even. Quiet. You can hear all the members and tones perfectly.
I don't think we have any 2 sets from the Xcacel collection yet either.
Bela Fleck sits on both nights as well.
A little remastering to warm them up would really make them shine.

Definitely don't hate him, but I do miss the acoustic feel to a show. I started going to shows in 06 and when the announcement was made in 08, trust me... I was thrilled. But after a few years and songs being so much faster than normal, ie Don't Drink, Grey Street, Rapunzel etc... it's a different type of feeling going to a show. 14-15 brought great stuff and personally some of my favorite years seeing the band. But yes, this year at DC (because covid didn't effect Tim) can easily be one of the best experiences I have witnessed since 2008.
Gorge N1:
Just listened to it once, it sounds very clean and to the point.
Seems to have been three great days in a row.
Thanks
I think I’ll make further corrections though. I have listened in the car and the hi-hats are a little too prominent. I’ll let you know when I’ll re-upload the show

I have re-uploaded the show, using some correction to reduce transients around the 6200 Hz frequency and a De-Esser.
Hi-hats sound much less invasive, now. I am listening with my AirPods now, and it sounds fine to me

That's nice. That you sometimes take your earlier remasters to make small corrections. I can imagine that after a few days certain little things will be noticed again.
Hey Xcacel, I can't thank you enough for everything you do for us. It's really incredible. I know you have done the 12.11.93 show, would you take a swipe at the 12.10.93 show? It's about as Christmasy a show that we have, especially the Seek Up. http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.as...=51&where=1993
