True story. Years ago we had a family trip with my inlaws and so after a long day of rides and stuff, everyone went off to their room except a few of the cousins and me. I believe that they were staying at the Boardwalk. So it's like 11pm and we all decide to go to Jelly Rolls for dueling pianos and late night beers. I go to the bartender near the dueling pianos and ask the guy if by any chance they sell cigars, since the gang was in the mood for one. And wouldn't you know it, they actually sold them. Was totally not expecting it. I guess you had to be there but it was kinda funny.

Don’t spend much time at hotel and have only stayed at All Star resorts as an adult. Staying at Art of Animation in December. I know they’re both value resorts but how does it compare?

Never been to All Star but I took my nephews a few years ago when Art had only been open a very short time. They were absolute Cars fanatics so it was perfect. I thought it was great for the money.

The theming was really, really good for them at their ages (six'ish and nine'ish iirc). This would have been Jan 2013.

I am guessing the buses were running more often than normal maybe due to the property not being open long but I don't think we ever waited more than a minute or two for a bus and those weren't too long other than animal kingdom. Stayed in one of the big rooms with two baths, kitchenette murphy bed etc again, Cars themed.

The pool was really nice and of course the place was spotless as it was both disney and brand new. Food court was kinda meh for quality but it had a lot of different choices. Very geared towards families which worked well for our trip that year.

I was really happy with the place for the kids but would prefer something with easier access to Epcot without them of course.

    Have a good time!

Officially booked! Gonna be our then 2-year-old's first time. We are going in July and staying at Art of Animation. Doing parks Wednesday to Friday (MK, HS, AK in that order those days).

I have stayed at Art of Animation twice and it's perfectly enjoyable. The Big Blue Pool is a lot of fun and probably where we spent the most of our time. We have stayed in the Little Mermaid rooms the first time we visited and were upgraded to a Nemo suite the second time. I will be spending the extra money and getting the Nemo suite next time we go. We don't go to the parks when we stay out there, as it's basically a stay-cation for us, so I can't say anything about transportation. The most amusing thing about staying on property is seeing all the adults loading up on booze in the food court as the night gets later.

They are basically the same. Swan might be “nicer” slightly but it’s the same difference

Thanks, that's how it appears. Thought there might be some insider knowledge to distinguish one as better. Main perk there being able to walk or catch a boat to Epcot and HS. But with most of the restaurants on the Boardwalk closed, not sure this is the trip to stay on property when we can get more for less a mile away.

We are waiting for March ‘22, now planning a ten day trip splitting it between French Quarter (assuming it’s open again, and The Poly.

I want to stay at the Polynesian so bad, and I'm pretty sure I'll never be able to afford it. Or more accurately, will never be able to justify paying for it.

Poly is high on my list, but that will be saved for a future date or if just my wife and I go by ourselves again. Wanna do the AK Lodge when our kid(s) are old enough to appreciate it. We would splurge for the side where the animals are.

I used an absurd about of miles to stay their one night a couple years ago and my son loved it. He wants to go back of course. Pretty cool to just watch the animals right out the window.

We were going to do poly and the new Moana themed rooms this fall but then our TA found us contemporary rooms for a few hundred cheaper.

Next year we will probably go back to Port Orleans/Coronado type resorts

I really want to stay at the French quarter at Christmas time

Suite demand is off the charts now....Overall demand is awful but people who are traveling really want suites...aka don't get your hopes up.

I just can't wait to finally see Galaxy's Edge. Won't be riding either ride this time around. I'll save that for when my son is older and would be able to ride it and love it. I just want to see the park and build a damn $100 droid
