It's like a Coen brothers film where everything they touch goes South so it's entertaining and you just can't believe that they can screw something up again next week. They need to change the name of the show to "Dumb Fucks go to Alaska"

Season finale next week. I'm shocked how well the Hoffman's are doing to be honest. I wonder how much profit they will each take in if they do hit 100 ounces of gold. They have a fairly large crew, the Dakota Boys might actually take home more each just because it's only a 3 man crew.

So they visit an established mine that was mining 45 ounces per 6 days. Jack says "well....with our equipment, we could do....i hate to say it.....4 times as much!" What a guy haha.

They could barley fucking WALK to their site. Now they wanna bring everything that has taken them 2 YEARS to get running in Alaska WITH roads and take it to Guyana. How they expect to get all that shit there? They couldn't even ride a four-wheeler to it.

New season starts this coming Friday. They're billing this season as the one where someone hits the "mother lode."

I can't help but wonder if their definition of that is the Hoffman's covering their expenses again.

I ask myself every time a new episode site why I still watch this show. Nothing ever happens but I can't look away. It's like going to a NASCAR race just to see accidents and not seeing any for 2 straight years but going back for a third just in case. Somebody better find something this year!

1K ounces is not going to happen. It seems like they finally have their shit together and might actually make it worth everybody's while as far as pay out for the summer goes. Last year each person made ~5K. That's hardly worth the summer's worth of work.

How the hell did they pay for all the new equipment they got? The show had to have gotten that through sponsorships or something.

I thought the Hoffman's had like, a fairly successful business they ran outside of gold mining? I could be wrong though. They might have afforded that equipment through that enterprise.

It's about damn time they took this seriously though. I like that other guy (I forget his name, the one who actually knows what he's doing, always running the bull dozer) going to a mining guru and constructing his own wash plant, doing shit right.

in the 'off season' episode they showed dave and todd pitching their idea to a group of investors that enabled them to buy the new equipment. i really wondered if any of the investors ever saw the show to see what kind of crew they were dumping their money into
