aside from maybe say goodbye I can't think of any for carter. disclaimer that I haven't listened to dmb in years
Yea I guess Im just thinking if there is a memorable beat out there that he's got. Like I said, Ants intro is memorable/identifiable but what else?

Where's his When The Levee Breaks?

I mean carter is really good obviously but every DMB fan thinks he's a top 5 drummer. He's not. Not even top 25. Maybe top 50

Listnening to Central Park right now, Carter is just beautifully filling in the beat on Warehouse. Not fast, not loud, just right.

    No, I think that's old.

Carter is #41. Pretty ironic, right?!

I'm saying something like when the levee breaks or even like jumpin jack flash. if you just played the drum track I'd know instantly what song it was. there's pretty much no carter songs I can say that about

different bands with different sounds and different approaches to song writing so i don't buy this as a knock on Carter

plus i'd say Pig, Say Bye, Grey Street and BOWA are fairly recognizable drum tracks in their own right

I guess I should defend myself by saying I wasn't considering session drummers. The list is always way deeper when you include them and I (perhaps unjustly) wasn't

Yeah I mean and top 25 lists are usually people who were "influential" not necessarily great at drumming so that's not really a good standard to go by.

    BOWA is a good example.

I get that he has a different style, but Im saying that full on heavy hitting isn't always the way to go.

He sounds the same on all of the new song, thus making all the new songs sound the same.

    1st bold: I agree 100%

2nd bold: I disagree. I think Carter is doing some pretty cool/tame stuff on Black and Blue Bird, Virginia in the Rain and Bob Law.
