we aren't talking about starting a new franchise or who's had worse line mates, just who is the better player. and it's Malkin. The numbers and the eye test all clearly show this

We are both homer's for our teams and I mean no disrespect to Malkin who is an amazing player but Toews has a leadership quality about him that cannot be quantified, he makes his team-mates better, specifically the younger guys he takes under his wing. Not saying Malkin cannot do that but he doesn't have to because Pittsburgh has Crosby who is also a great captain and leader.
Yeah, statistically Malkin is a better player in offensive categories and they are equal in games played. Their numbers are far closer in the playoffs though, again with an equal number of games played.
Honestly you could probably build a team around either of them and have a solid team if the supporting cast is good too - like both of them have though I think Toews has a very slight edge because he is calmer and takes a lot less penalties. Still, if you want to dump Malkin I will happily take him to anchor my 3rd line - you can have Kruger in return!!!!
