The way this timeline seems to be shaking out and info thats been hinted out I'm guessing it goes like this:

Album announced before tour
Single close to start of tour
A couple songs played live during tour
Album released after "Summer tour" during that weird break before indoor shows
Small fall/winter indoor tour to support the album

This is pretty much exactly my prediction as well. I see the album being announced in July; a single dropped for the tour opener; The single and maybe a couple other new tunes played throughout the summer tour; Album released in October during the 3 week break; extended shows throughout November and into December

They play all the way up till October 16. Then they take off 3 weeks and finish the tour with 2 random indoor stops. I think those two random stops after the break could start a mini indoor fall leg that can promote the new album.

Does the band or the band's management realize how excited a simple 30-second Instagram post of new music from the studio would make the fans. I'm baffled by the bands complete lack of social media awareness. Hell, Rashawn posted a video with no sound, and people freaked out. Throw us a freaking bone!

I'm sure they do realize it, but depending on their time frame for release, it may be too early to start with the teases. If they do it too early, they risk people losing interest by the time it eventually comes out. Better to start the promotion when they're ready to have a continuous build up until the release date.

They aren’t great about generating excitement. All you see on social media are old tour photos. Who cares about that?

Maybe after they make the initial announcement they will get the ball rolling. If I remember correctly they didn’t promote CT much, so I’m not expecting much. Ultimately I just hope we get a good album.

I hope they bring back the Summer Tour Warmup youtube series. I think they usually start these about 2 weeks before the tour begins

Yea, that’s sort of what I was getting at.

And I’ve heard him explain the story of how he wrote the song, but one time intro-ing the song he said something like “it started out being about my son learning to swim, but then I got lost” and another time said “It’s about my son learning to swim..I think?” Anyways, I like how the song comes off as this innocent, tiny uke song, but it’s actually much deeper/meaningful than it appears.

The main issue with DMB’s social media is that it’s so impersonal and has no personality. The real issue is you can tell nobody from the band is actually involved with it. Really just needs more band involvement. Basically all they do is announce band member birthdays, album anniversaries (along with “which song is your favorite?”) and post song lyrics.

Yes, his mindset is different, but life only gets more emotionally complicated when you add in a spouse and children and aging. There is so much to mine there for material, and he has in certain cases (i.e., Gaucho and The Riff), but he hasn't done it well.

If the lyrics in Gaucho weren't so trite, it would be an awesome song. The music is great, and it's really the chorus that kills it. He just doesn't seem to have the desire/ability to really dig deep.

I guess it’s not widely known (I thought it was), that Rodrigo Simas runs their social media. So yea he’s a big longtime fan!

Pretty obvious to me that when it comes to their social media, Rodrigo likely has access only to the things that the fan base in general has access to. Nothing from the “vault” or anything like that is ever posted and any news story that is posted typically come we after the official website announces it.

Yeah, I don't think he is at fault for the lackluster social media presence. I did find it funny though how there was a post on Instagram asking what the fans wanted from the account. Lots of good suggestions in the comments, but nothing has changed.

Agreed except for the obvious throwback photos from older shows he does when one is aired online, but they could just send those to him in an email a few days before the post lol

Same thing happened on FB, the account reached out to several people in the comments as well looking like they were following up on something, but yeah, no change.

In the last several years - whether its related to an album dropping (CT) or new tours, D&T in Mexico etc.- has the social media strategy changed at all regarding when announcements are made? For example, there have been some surprise album drops by other major artists to great success, and they just announced D&T Mexico today which isn't usually announced until late August/September.
