Traditionally, what gets the crowd going more? Nancies or Billies?

Nancies is a slow burn. Especially with Boyd - the way he would work the crowd up slowly but surely throughout his solo was amazing. One of their best songs to see live, the crowd goes nuts when it goes into Warehouse too.

Billies is just a blast of energy for 6 minutes, love it.

The three by requests shows put together basically make a Dave solo concert since there aren't any repeats. I added Ocean and the Butterfly and Windows to the playlist and it's a VERY solid listen. I am so grateful for all of these and the people here who put in the effort to compile it.

Thanks man. Had been listening to HartfordLT3 Nancies and Wrigley Billies a lot recently. Always thought Nancies was a better song, but more than ever now wondering which Id rather see live at my next show.

Two great picks. Hard to beat that LT 3 Nancies... it's just a flawless performance. And the Wrigley Billies is a barn burner.

If I had to pick between the two at my next show I'd go Nancies. It's top 10 for me. And I am a huge Tim fan, so hearing him get the showcase solo is fantastic. (though I would prefer vintage Boyd, but unfortunately I don't think we will ever seen that again.)

    About setlists

One of the smartest comments I have heard before a show has been: “it’s not about the songs they are gonna play, it’s is HOW they are gonna play them”

Has there been much variation with how they play them with the current lineup?

It’s really crazy to me it’s not considered one of the “big” albums. At least years later. I get Everyday was a shock and then hearing Lillywhite Sessions messed with everyone’s minds, but Busted Stuff really is about as solid as an album can get. Maybe there isn’t the same depth to the music as you might hear on a Lillywhite album in terms of layering. However, it’s kind of cool that, as far as I know, this is the only DMB album that doesn’t have a single guest on it. In that case I think it’s pretty cool to have an album made solely by the original 5. Is Captain better on Lillywhite Sessions? Absolutely, but is it bad on Busted Stuff? No, and it produced a killer live song. Busted Stuff needs to start getting more love.

Haven’t heard anything from Boyd these days. Was randomly wondering what he’s been up to and checked his Instagram. He hasn’t posted since November. It would be pretty cool if that were because he was getting the help he so obviously needed. I know he’s not coming back, but redemption stories are pretty rad. Imagine if a world where he came back healthy and playing on top of his game.

Busted Stuff features some of Dave's best and most heartfelt songwriting. Sure, the production may not be as layered and as interesting as what was on the tLWS but from a songwriting standpoint the album is a masterpiece. It's a shame that Dave appears to not be comfortable writing dark songs anymore.
Since Busted Stuff came out, Dave basically has stopped writing dark tracks and has focused almost exclusively on love songs and sanguine anthems. I don't think we'll ever get another album like Busted Stuff again where almost every track is beautiful melancholia.

I consider it up there with the "Big Three"

Only weak song on there is WAYG... IMO.

It's my favorite album from the band, and it's not close. I'm grateful that I was just a teen when it came out, and not really plugged into what was happening in the DMB community, so I'd never actually heard LWS before it, and I think that was really helpful. I like the LWS, especially the tunes they left off of BS, but Busted Stuff is still a perfect album to me. You're totally right when you say that people complain about it not being as dense as a Lillywhite version, but I see that as a plus for the same reason that you mentioned... that it's the OG 5 and that's it. I think it's a beautiful album, and when people say Big 3 I find it funny cause to me it is certainly the Big 4.

For me tLWS is DMB's best album, and that is what drops BS down a notch in my view. I just can't help comparing the two. But, as noted in some posts here, BS is a fantastic album and probably should be part of a the big 4.

I became a big fan after tLWS/BS. The LWS is incredible and I do prefer it to BS if forced to choose, but I look at the two efforts as one extended super productive creative process.

That’s my view and between the two recordings it is THE best DMB album by far to me. Yes, BS is missing the stellar JTR, SUaD, vocal KKJ, & Monkey Man, but it has YNK which is for us as good as anything from the original sessions. And then there are a bunch of differences within the BS versions that I prefer to tLWS. As to the production, I have ZERO issues with how BS sounds.

But again, it’s like DMB’s Let It Be and Let It Be Naked...just another way to enjoy these amazing songs.

385 current viewers on the site rn- 3x more than anything I've noticed in my 2 years here. Gotta love the buzz today.

What would the traffic look like during this sites heyday? Or is this not far off?
