oddly enough, 2006 had some great set lists (on paper) but the performances were lacking. im too lazy to look it up, but the Gorge n3 had a run of LIOG, JTR, Dreaming Tree, and Last Stop (not in that order) which is insane. however, performance wise:

Last stop 98 (or 03)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Last Stop 06

As for the topic of this thread, as far as the high point of the bands career, it has to be Central Park. I'm not going to argue it's the best show, but in terms of its significance in the bands career, it is hard to argue that playing a show in central park in front of 100,000+ isnt the high point.

as far as best show goes, I'd have to say something from 98 - you cant have a best DMB show without Last Stop. period. sorry pre 98 shows

    For the life of me I wont understand why people could like 27, but if they do and it moves them, great. Better than another chick getting pregnant in a Ram pickup listening to Nickelback
    you kind of contradict yourself in this post.

    IMO 27 is much better than shotgun.

    well, i didnt contradict myself. I believe I gave an example of how if people like a song, you can just be happy they are moved by the same band you are.

    and I just get no feeling at all when 27 is played. Im moved by shotgun.

    ooo no. i mean what i would consider to be their BEST show is a combination of the set list and the performance itself. the 2006 performances were pretty weak compared to the performances from the early 90's - 2000. i felt the band was at its heigh performance wise in the late 90's and sometimes in 03. 2005-2007 had some decent performances, but no where near the level of the post Crash, pre Everyday era.

    is that any clearer? - i kinda rambled. all i meant to say is that its been a loooooooooooong time since dmb was at their peak.

    yeah, i get what you are saying. i feel as though the last truly great show was the last show of the last great year which was 2000. any show up to that point was certified gold. the ones that were above that (12/3/98 etc. etc.) they are the platinum ones. there was absolutely nothing weak about performances or sets up til 12/17/00. shit hit the fan though in 2001. i do think 2001 is a strong year performance wise, and things were changed up. people seem to look past that though because all they see is the LL, and angel so that automatically clouds their judgement.

    IMO...

    6/6/1996 - SPAC - Saratoga, NY

    Jimi Thing
    LIOG *
    Seek Up *
    Nature ->
    Tripping Billes
    Lover Lay Down
    Recently
    Typical Situation
    For the Beauty of Wynona
    So Much To Say -->
    Anyone Seen the Bridge
    Too Much
    Leave Me Praying
    Crash
    Rhyme & Reason
    Ants *
    Two Step *

    Encore:
    #41 *
    Drive In Drive Out

    * Bela Fleck

    This show was awesome, with Bela Fleck coming out at the beginning (after an awesome Jimi Thing to set the mood) and end of the show (for an awesome $41). This is the show I keep going back to try and see again, but have yet to match (although I have come very close).

    I really don't know. That is an awful answer, but it's honest.

    The show can't have any SU or Everday material (save for So Right, Sleep to Dream Her, and Hello Again). It also can't have True Reflections, Sister, Idea of You, or Cornbread.

    Ants, LIOG, #41, and Dreaming Tree would have to be involved.

    6/21/08, save for Cornbread, fits the bill. But Eh Hee is on the weaker side as well.

    This whole tour has been fucking sick.

    I feel really bad for those of you who have named a show from a previous year as the last grate show.

    there's always a great irony to things considered 'great'. Like for example, I was at the OP's 'great' show - http://www.antsmarching.org/tour/Vie...hp?ShowID=2234 and I didn't think it was anything special. Not in my top 5.
    then again, I also listened to someone scream 'brickhouse' for about an hour during that show http://www.antsmarching.org/columns/...hp?columnid=45

    I think the last "Great" show was SPAC nite 2. The last great 'run' was WPB nite 1 and 2. I think both of those shows were very good, but as a combo they're great.

    The previous 'great' show... you might have to go back to 2000. Nothing jumps out at me, but that's me: to others, they might enjoy a 2002 or 2005 show, but nothing is memorable to me from any of those years, outside of a few D+T shows.

    This show was awesome, with Bela Fleck coming out at the beginning (after an awesome Jimi Thing to set the mood) and end of the show (for an awesome $41). This is the show I keep going back to try and see again, but have yet to match (although I have come very close).
    i was just listening to this one yesterday on liog.org

    I don't know what the answer to this question is, but I was at all of these shows.
