Very cool, I'm excited...has it been confirmed that DMB will be there labor day weekend?...I know that some SPAC and Alpine dates have been rumored but I haven't heard anything about the Gorge..I'm assuming its Labor Day Weekend as usual

I know a lot of people fly into Seattle, but I wouldn't want to put up with the drive.

I'm from around Chicago, so I flew out from there to Salt Lake City, UT. We then boarded a connecting flight to Pasco, WA. It's a smaller airport, but they still have plenty of car rental places.

We were about 40-60 minutes from the airport to hotel. Hotel was about a 30-40 min from the Gorge. Unless it was around the town we were in to get something to eat. We only drove to those places, and with the Corrolla we rented only used 1 tank of gas. It came with a full tank, so we filled up right outside the airport. I doubt you could pull that off driving from Seattle.

Good call, Pasco is much closer to the Gorge than Seattle is, although it's a bit more expensive to fly into smaller towns near the gorge (Yakima, Pasco) than it is to fly to seatown

At 150 miles or so each way, it's a 300 mile RT -- roughly a tank of gas in an economy car. If you camp at Wildhorse, you don't really need to move your car once you arrive. Also, if you're flying from the east coast, unless you're flying from a major hub city, it's much harder to fly into Kennewick (2 stops for sure).

I'm so happy for you girl!! You're where you should be. I'm doing well. Just lost my job due to mass layoffs, but I have a good package.

It's kind of weird, but I'm happier than I've been in a while! Jobless and all!

you might want to look into flying into portland. brian and i are probably going to have a mini ants party at my place on that wed night and then go from there on thurs...that might be kinda fun if you can swing the extra day off work....AND the airport is right by my house. im sure more about this will be added to the toupstown site once we get confirmation dates!

My wife and I are flying in from Iowa to catch the weekend. Flying in to Seattle on a Thursday. We plan on doing lunch at the Space Needle on Friday. We have never been to Seattle. Any other MUSTS that we should hit up on Thursday night or Friday mordning/afternoon?
Very excited to see the dates. Booked at the Best Western in Ephrata. Decent?

Don't mean to ask a possibly stupid question.. but..

the wildhorse website lists labor day weekend as costing $120 (car).

    gates open sept 3-7.

then it asks for my quantity.

now does this mean that it's $120 a night, and i should buy one for each night i'm there, or does this mean a spot costs $120 total and is good for all of those nights?

    thanks.

That's a good question. I assumed the $120 was for the whole weekend, but perhaps it's not...? I doubt I'll be staying there for 5 nights, I wonder if it's possible to save a little money by only booking it for 4 nights, etc. Any insight on this?

Also, I'm thinking my group (of 4) will be using 2 separate tents. Is that allowed, even though we'll only be paying for one "car"?

Unless something has changed (and I doubt it has), it means that it's $120 for the spot.. whether you go in on the 3rd, the 4th, the 5th, etc. Unlike Gorge where IIRC, if you show up the day before the show, you pay 120. If you show up the day of the 1st show, you only pay $90.

So excited to see the 2009 thread up
I saw DMB at the Gorge for the first time last year, and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! It is definitely one of the highlights (if not the highlight) of my year.

And all of you wondering about the "long" drive from Seattle or Eastern WA; it goes fast, trust me. Last year, I left the Seattle-area around 1:30, and would be parked at the Gorge at 4. Its really not that bad...plus all of the excitement!!

Anyway, I hope to be more of a regular in this thread this year, and I can't wait for 3 more nights of amazingness!!

I heard somewhere (I may have been high so don't trash me) that that little vineyard right by the Gorge had been booked by DMB people for Labor Day weekend through 2012 or something. I would say it's safe to assume that Labor Day Weekend+Gorge=DMB.

    Re: ***Gorge 2009***

I started this thread confident that Labor Day weekend will be the weekend DMB plays the Gorge. It's been their routine of late, and with the new album out and LeRoi's successor named, all the rumors and worries of last year seem to have been put to bed once and for all.

I prefer to camp at Wanapum State Park. We bring ski boats and children and dogs - all things that work best at a state park with a great beach and a great boat launch. If I were 22 again, I'd want to stay at the official amphitheater campground because that's where the party and the people are.

If I were 32 again, I'd want to stay at Wildhorse because you can have a fun time with a large group of friends and not have to worry about law enforcement like you do at the official campground.

But since I'm in my 40's, I prefer the state park. Call me an old man, or call me a wizened old Gorge/DMB veteran, but I've stayed at most places (aside from a hotel) and have determined that Wanapum State Park is the best place for my family and friends.

The Cave B Inn still has plenty of openings for Labor Day Weekend, which is NOT a good thing if we're all planning on DMB at the Gorge Labor Day Weekend, as many members of the band (including Dave and his family) stay at Cave B during the weekend of shows.

My wife and I would LOVE to add this to our stops this year we are already going to MSG,IZOD,Mansfield 1&2, Hartford 1&2,SPAC 1&2, any east coasters planning on making the trek?

We would love to get an idea on what it would cost to make it happen, ballpark.

hmm interesting...so if we're already booked at Wildhorse for Labor Day weekend and it ends up being a different weekend...what happens then?

Making the trek from Florida so we're traveling about the same distance....I've just scanned a few flights and they are around $300-400 average but I'm sure there are cheaper ones out there...We wont be renting a car or getting a hotel but the wildhorse is 120 plus equipment/food/drink/etc. probably another 400?probably less
