Thanks, I have vinyl rips of most of these but will check these out. Haven't listened to Phish in a decade probably

Well that certainly is due for a change! Their vinyl releases have been fantastic.

This is coming from someone who loves Old & In The Way so obviously I dig the music, just not the release as a big vinyl set.

I think this is pretty much me. After I saw that, I checked it out on Apple Music. I really enjoyed it, but it’s not something I would look to pick up on vinyl.

I don’t need speakers, but they are tempting at that price!

Hey All - I figured I would check in here before I go buying anything. I am brand new to vinyl and want to get into collecting and everything. I don't have a player and am looking to get something that isn't the top of the line or super expensive...just something decent for under $250'ish. Also, those speakers from Klipsch are a fantastic deal...looking into getting those as well. Can anyone help with what brand or type of player to start with?

    Thanks!!

Check out the link in my signature!

Those Klipsch R-15Ms are passive, so you would need an amp/receiver to drive them. At minimum you'll need a turntable (duh!), a phono-preamp, and powered speakers (ones with their own power supply).

Is the $250 for the entire setup, or just the table? $250 for everything would be near impossible to do on new equipment, but you could definitely find some great components used/vintage (don't be scared off from that - great bang for your buck can be found on vintage equipment).

If $250 is for the table, check out the U-Turn Orbit.

Also, steer clear of the Audio Technica LP60, pretty much anything from Crosley, ION, etc - if it looks like a toy or a suitcase, do not buy it. It will cause skips, speed issues, and will sound like crap and you'll be turned off from the hobby before you get anywhere.

Countdown clock, something coming Thursday. With the pic, you've got to hope it's a deluxe, expanded edition of Wallflowers? Please, please, please be unreleased Wallflowers music!

How the fuck did that come out as "Wallflowers"? Twice!?!? As much as I love the song "Three Marlenas", The Wallflowers were not on my mind at all when I wrote that post, nor at any time today.

Anyone have insight on which version is better between the MoFi and AP releases of Lynyrd Skynyrd's debut (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd)? I'm leaning towards the AP because it's 45RPM on 2LPs vs MoFi's single LP at 33 & 1/3

Especially considering that the original Wildflowers LP was a digital cut.

You could just buy the Vol 2 box set that contains the AAA Bellman cut and it would be cheaper than buying an original copy.

Even though I already have that, if the expanded edition is essentially the full, double-album that Tom always said Wildflowers was originally intended to be, they'll get my money again.

No need to do another remaster on the original album as the Bellman cut from the box set is absolute perfection, IMO. But if they add the rest of the stuff that was recorded, also AAA?

Also, update on my DMB set problem - I emailed MusicToday Thursday evening, and woke up Friday morning to an email from them stating that the Academy set was being re-shipped out. They didn't ask me to send the extra Benaroya back either.

Regarding the Tom Petty Live Anthology being out there again, it's been confirmed that there was a repress done of the set. It's 100% identical to the 2009 set except that the albums in the repress are 140g and the original was 180g. The hype sticker on the repress incorrectly states that they are 180g.

This dude in the DMB fam is selling a bunch of DMB merch. Asked about the 25 boxset, and he said $420. Really annoying. That’s with the poster that he won’t exclude.

    Hardly showing LoVE!

Regarding the Tom Petty announcement tomorrow, they announced it early on Sirius Tom Petty Radio and I heard it on my way home tonight.

It is NOT, unfortunately, a Wildflowers box set.

It *is* a box set called 'American Treasure' that features 60 tracks of previously unreleased material, both studio and live. It was compiled by his wife and daughter, Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, and 'longtime studio collaborator' Ryan Ulate.

They played the first 'single' from the collection, an unreleased song from the Long After Dark sessions called 'Keep A Little Soul,' which at first listen was a really good tune!

The full details will come out tomorrow morning. There was no mention of a vinyl version, but I'd be surprised if one wasn't offered. It's a 4-CD set so you're probably talking 6-8 LP's I would guess?

    Interesting.

    Good Info.

I would go with the AP over the MoFi.

    Have you heard both?

I'm leaning towards the AP because of the 2LPs at 45rpm, and because Free Bird isnt relegated to an inner groove slot

I haven’t heard both, but your leaning is exactly why I would choose the AP!
