For the most part. If you're required to take a drug test before being hired, you're absolutely going to have to take one if you're ever hurt. That way the company can claim that you were under the influence when you were hurt reducing their liability.

Where I work, we have offices and warehouses, so the office people are under the same scrutiny as warehouse workers. For a while, it was imperative I did not get hurt at work.

That can depend, I guess. If you're hopping around on crutches your company may want you to see a doctor to make sure nothing is wrong that would cost more down the road. If you just trip, but show no signs of injury they probably won't force you to a doctor.

I've never been required to take one, at least at a post-college employer. I think consulting firms would rather not know what people are doing in their few hours outside of work, as long as their job is getting done. And, if it's not, you're going to get ushered out anyway. Makes sense though.

Thing is, I am a contractor and haven't even seen my actual employer since I got hurt, I work at a clients site. I would have signed a waiver saying it's not their fault, blah, blah, blah... OH well, if I have to go to the clinic for the drug test, I'll have the doctor look at it now...

I think it can just depend. I believe I've taken a drug test for two jobs. But again, we have people doing manual work where the risk of injury is much greater than your typical office worker. I wouldn't be shocked to find out we get a break on insurance for drug testing workers, so it probably makes fiscal sense.

I never thought about IBS, but after reading about it, they do sound very similar. It seems like IBS is more painful (). The only pain I've gotten is the acute stomach cramps when I HAVE to go. A lot of the treatments for IBS are the same as what's been suggested to me for my problems (besides being just good general digestive health suggestions). I'm really intrigued by the fact that psychotherapy can be effective as a treatment for IBS. I'll have to find more on that.

I actually did that for two summers. You'd be amazed. I'd film people playing basketball when they told their employer they couldn't get out of bed. I filmed one guy laying brick for two days who couldn't lift his arm. I had to testify in court once. It's crazy.

Oh yeah, my aunt used to be a work comp lawyer and caught quite a few people bowling, running, hiking, etc. after saying their necks or backs were hurt too badly to work.
