The Tea Break - early venue?

I was taking with a friend of mine who said that her father owned a restaurant called 'The Tea Break' in Charlottesville where Dave would often perform at in the early years. Does anyone know any more about it? Can't find any more info online about the specific name other than what she told me.

I imagine if it was '91 or earlier, it would be lost to history.

I don't want to spoil your excitement, perhaps you and your're friend's father are correct, but unlikely. People "remember" stuff all the time. History they were never around for. Events that did not occur. It's human nature. He wants to relate to you and make a connection of some sort and probably truly believes that Dave Matthews did indeed play at his establishment The Tea Break. Find out if that place existed first. Then do research. There are a lot of fans on the boards, but not many from the early 90's. Especially 91. Get in contact with someone at DMB Almanac, Jake, Matt or look through the old Nancies archives... But it's totally unheard of right now.

    Hope you find out more....

Living in Colorado, I've heard my whole life when I mention I love DMB, that "they were the guy yelling Watchtower at Red Rocks" I mean, they really believe that and they are simultaneously full of shit because most of the time they would be like 11 or 12 when that show happened.

They've also met Dave "a bunch of times", or know someone who know's Dave and he's really cool or he's a real jerk. Most people just make stuff up because they don't think you'll be able to check them on it.

Do your HW though, and find out.

I've never heard of the Tea Break. There is a tea house on the Mall in Cville - it's kinda small but in 90/91 Dave could play there.

it's possible that Dave, along with Tim, played a place early, but you have to remember that Tim had TR3 back in 90-92 and he didn't play a lot of acoustic shows with Dave. The first D+T show we know of is 5.5.92; logically if there was a "tea break" show it would be after that.

There's two solutions: it didn't happen or it was a Dave performance with someone else (like Peter). I don't see any proof of a Tea Break in Cville but that doesn't mean anything.
