Re: Release date?

It has to be coming soon. It doesn't make sense that they are starting to promote an album a year in advance.

A clever idea would be for them to play the entire album live and use the ticket master partnership to allow all of the fans that bought a ticket to download the album for free. I don't think that is what the partnership is intended to do but it would be an amazing idea.

It would definitely be nice to know for sure. Its honestly not going to take that long for them to record this album. They have had several studio sessions since stand up. This is basically the final recording process. Hopefully by late summer

They intend to put themselves back on the map with this one, and that means (1) a producer who knows how to get an "epic" sound, (2) an intense tour, and (3) an album hitting this summer, because DMB's biggest season is summertime.
So we're going to get a Everyday Part II?

June 17th or June 24th, 2008 is my guess. My timeline is they finish recording, mixing, and anything else that goes into making a record by the third week of April. Then there has to be promotion organized and a single released for radio by the third to fourth week of May, with the record release date 2-4 weeks after the single hits the radio and iTunes. I could be wrong and most likely am wrong, I just like to think this is how it will go.

I really dont think they are creating anything new from scratch this time around like they did with SU and Everyday. I think they are taking the busted stuff process. Theyre taking their recorded ideas from the last few studio sessions out to seattle and filtering them through cavallo for extra ideas and polishing. Then they are going to tweak,add/delete ideas and or songs. Then they will re record for the final time with guest(s) and Tim reynolds. Final production done through cavallo.

I think its going to be a 5 song EP.

But one song will be well over 30 minutes.

well over at tdc, the man-apparently-in-the-know (Moses) says they've *written* 15 songs in three weeks while in Seattle.

    Believe it or not.

Amazing, yet highly unlikely! I'm calling a few of our favoirtes (ie: Cornbread, #27, SUAD) and a lot of new stuff.

I'm just ready for the summer so we can hear the new songs. It was exciting before stand up came out and to see the develpment of the songs.

As far as the lists yes I am tired of them.

yeah, technically I've bought 10 tickets for this tour so far, and will probably be picking up a couple more, so I could potentially buy the album off of iTunes with the free songs!

    Re: Release date?

At first I figured it would come out just as the tour started but it seems to be getting a little late for that now. I think it'll come out in the middle (June/July) of the tour. I don't think they'll want to wait any longer (if they can help it).

Looking for about 12 songs total.

Idea of You (seems like a lock for the album now)
Cornbread (seems destined for the album/not strong enough for a "Live Only"
Granny (complete opposite, too strong live to be on an album. won't make it)
Joy Ride (I know it won't happen but I would like to see it reworked and "officially" released. Great opener to an album, similar to PNP/Rapunzel.
.....about 4-5 new songs with a few of the others mentioned above (no need to relist them).

In America, that is. And that is not a market rule, just a market standard. They could release it on a Sunday in a small indie-metal shop in Helsinki, if they wanted to.

The source is from the UK? I've noticed a few people say that the date would be a Friday. This would be strange, as the official charts in the UK are every Sunday so if I was gonna bring out a new album in the UK I would make sure the release date was a Monday. That way you get a full week in before the charts. I think thats how it works anyway.

    Re: Release date?

My theory on the release date is this...If anyone on here is a subscriber to Rolling Stone, you know that they love DMB in that mag. There is a DMB story or blurb in almost every other issue. The latest issue had a summer album preview and I can almost guarantee if DMB knew they were going to release it anytime before september it would have come out in that issue.

Unless DMB is going to go all Raconteurs on us and drop an album with no forewarning...I think it's gotta be coming in the fall
