I'm not sure how you dont see this as being problematic.
I missed this post before but the point about what a big name Hurts is is a very good one. Wentz had a lot to deal with during the Foles years. He handled it well on the surface but it had to bother him. At least one guy in the locker room was vocal about wanting Foles instead of Wentz. Now they bring in Hurts, who by all accounts is a great person. People will be drawn to him and there is bound to be a group of people who want to see Hurts play the moment Wentz struggles at all.

This is another argument I can't stand seeing -- it might hurt Wentz's feelings? Sorry, but if he's that mentally weak, he's not going to make it anyway.

The Patriots drafted 10 QB's while Tom Brady was their starter, including a 3rd-rounder in 2008 by the name of Kevin O'Connell. I'm pretty sure they weren't trying to replace Brady at that point, nor were they worried about shaking his confidence. It's part of the game. If you see a guy available that you think can become a contributor to your team, whether it's this year, next year or even two years from now, pull the trigger.

And again, say what you want, but Carson Wentz has not taken the Eagles' most important snaps of the season since 2016. It's been someone else every year since. That matters.

Just to be clear, the logic here is:

One guy is "not at the same level as" the consensus best QB in the country (at the time of Hurts' transfer), thus he's a complete waste of a pick?

There is some middle ground between not being the #1 QB in the country and not being good.

For this team, at that pick, yes.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree here. I respect everything you guys are saying, but I just disagree strongly with all of it.

If any fan base knows the importance of QB depth, it should be one for the team that won its only Super Bowl ever thanks to a backup QB. I think it's important to prioritize having a quality QB behind Wentz than it is to make sure the guy behind him on the depth chart isn't too much of a threat to his confidence, morale, etc.

See, you have totally missed the point here. No one is arguing against QB depth. We are not happy with they way they got it. It also doesn't help that the guy they brought in will bring a bit of a media sideshow. Never a fan of that. This team is further removed from the Super Bowl victory than it is from a fractured locker room. Forgive me for wanting to get back to the former and avoid the latter.

I get your point -- just disagree with it. My point is that this move brings you closer to the former, because it gives you some depth behind a guy that has missed the last 3 playoff runs. And yet again, you've tossed out another empty proposal -- you want QB depth, you just want to get it a "different way." What other way? Sign Joe Flacco? Bring back a 41-year-old Josh McCown? Bring in Marcus Mariota? Those are the other options out there. This is the toughest position to fill in sports, there aren't just a plethora of options out there, especially waiting to be a backup QB.

I was a lot higher on Hurts than a lot of folks though, I think he'll be better than people give him credit for. Waste of a pick for Philly sure, but not because Hurts isn't talented enough to play in this league. I actually think he works in Philly if they didn't have Wentz.

Brandon Brooks out for the season with a torn achilles...this is devastating. Arguing the 3rd most important player on the team besides Carson and Lane

Saw that too, that sucks. Especially in a time like this, I'm sure all those guys want to do is get out and play and now he's out for the season. Hopefully he make recovery quick business.

I wouldn't. JP at left tackle does not help the right side at all. They really like Matt Pryor, and I think he could be a suitable fill-in for this season. Dillard has to start at LT this year. It's time.

I would just like to know if we can attend any games this season. Over the course of like 4 days it went from the team saying yes with restrictions to the city saying no to the city saying maybe. Sounds like the team was blindsided when the city announced no fans. Guessing some less than cordial phone calls led to them walking that back.

I'm sure as shit not attending a game. Between prices being grossly high if there are tickets and the fact I couldn't trust being around a bunch of mouth-breathing idiots drunk during a football game, there is no way. So I don't care what the ruling is.

Touche. Never knew you were a season ticket holder!

EDIT: On a side note, was at the RR HOF over the weekend and they have the hot dog Phish rode in.

I haven't been to an Eagles game in a long time. I think the NFC Championship against Atlanta was the last one. The whole hassle of getting in and out plus the outrageous cost just makes watching from home much more appealing. Throw in that On Sundays in the fall I still want to play golf, I may never go to another game.

my last game was a blowout loss to the cardinals, i think the year Chip got fired

the experience and atmosphere are awesome, but the tv-viewing experience is simply better

so Ngakoue goes for a 2nd and a conditional 5th? I get the $ is a bit much but for a kid his age and talent...ugh. Howie seems to have lost his touch.

Resign Alshon and give desean guaranteed deals, but miss out on getting guys like deandre Hopkins and Ngakoue for almost nothing
