It will be great to get McNeil/Conforto/Nimmo/Davis back; though I do wonder how Davis fits back in - Villar has earned 3B.

Dom Smith might end up a platoon player with JD in left if he isn’t hitting consistently enough.

I will miss the defense they have been playing. That Pillar -> Guillorme -> McCann relay was fantastic.
My guess is Dom stays in LF, Villar to 2B and then Davis to 3B. I could see him and Dom platooning out in the left too though. God that's such awful defense there.

McNeil is going to 2B, and Villar has to stay at 3B for his glove and bat. JD’s glove simply isn’t good enough to play that position on this roster (and I’d rather take 1 bad glove in LF than anywhere in the infield). So I have to think we’ll see Dom in LF vs righties and JD vs LHP. Until one of them starts hitting like crazy or slumping I guess.

It’s a good problem to have, but there isn’t enough spots for all of these guys and you have to play the hot hands

I cannot believe he fell to us. Got to see him pitch this year and saw almost all the coverage on him and Leiter. Both incredible arms and I am shocked they didn’t go back to back in the draft

Sad to see Noah go. He was using the QO as a fallback incase he didn't pass his physical. Seems like he wanted out of this organization.

I’m kinda on team “Fuck Noah”. He spent most of the season tweeting with fans about how he couldn’t possibly imagine leaving, that he wanted the QO, that he really appreciated the Mets gave him the QO.

Then he goes and takes what will work out to ~$800k more after taxes and never gave the Mets a chance to bid.

He clearly wanted out, so why toy with the fans like that via social media? I guess now he gets to go to what is basically the West Coast Mets.

I agree. At least with Wheeler he came back to the Mets looking for them to match the Phillies offer. KFC sucks, but he was saying they used to talk and all he did was shit on the organization before Cohen came in. So now he's with Arte Moreno likely on innings limit hoping to get a nice multi-year deal for 2023, like you said, West Coast Mets.

the key, Roose, is to remember that no matter what it says on the back of the jersey, it still says "Mets" on the front, so it's nothing to worry about

I think Lindor will bounce back and have a good year. The money isn’t a problem for Cohen, clearly. He had a horrible first half last year that really tanked him numbers, but his second half was pretty close to his career averages and his glove was great all year. Because of his premium position, he still posted a 3.1 bWAR

Lindor is having a great start. 2 HR in the home opener, just the 3rd player in team history to do so (Cleon Jones, Mike Piazza)

His 2021 was deemed a failure, but it was almost exclusively due to his poor start. He hit pretty much at his career averages in the back half of the year.

He’s surround by a much more talented roster and veteran team, and I think that should really help.

Eh, he had a good September to finish the year. He was having a good July too, but only played half of the month. But he's certainly having a good start. Beltran also had a bad first year with the Mets and then kicked it into gear during his second. Was never too worried about Lindor though
