Re: Official New Songs and Tabs Discussion

The E in the chorus for joyride is somwhere down by frets 9 and 11, and the A in crazy/easy chorus is around 5 and 7 and looks like it requires some fast fungerwork. Of course I have no idea how to tab but hopefully this will help someone else.

While we're at it, does anyone know any sites that have the lyrics down? It's not dave matthews unless you can sing the song as well...

    Thanks.

yep, he plays something similar to the verse of SDL for Joy Ride's chorus, hammer-ons and all

No, cuz neither does Dave. I've heard a half a dozen different recordings of the new songs and most have different lyrics every night. Sugar Will is hard to understand and possibly won't be until the album...at the 21st show jsut passed which i got to see, i was pumped as joy ride started, about to start singing along, and then lyrics had changed completely....for the better though.

Sugar Will, by Dave Matthews Band
    Tabbed by Adam Hanley (adwolf16@aol.com)
    www.angelfire.com/music4/dmbmidis

    Intro(/Interlude):

    e-----------------|
    b-----------------|
    g-5---9---5-9---5-|
    d-7-9-7-9-7-7-9-7-|
    a-----------------|
    E-----------------|

Repeat till you get bored with it

    Verse:

    e----------------------|-----------------|
    b----------------------|-----------------|
    g----------------------|-5---9---5-9---5-|
    d-7----10----7-10----7-|-7-9-7-9-7-7-9-7-|
    a-8-10-8--10-8-8--10-8-|-----------------|
    E----------------------|-----------------|

    e-------------------------|----------------------|
    b-------------------------|----------------------|
    g-9-----12----9--12----9--|-7----10----7-10----7-|
    d-10-12-10-12-10-10-12-10-|-8-10-8--10-8-8--10-8-|
    a-------------------------|----------------------|
    E-------------------------|----------------------|

    Repeat till the pre-chorus

    Pre(/Post)-Chorus:

    e----------------|----------------|
    b----------------|----------------|
    g-2---5----------|-4---7----------|
    d-3-5-3-/4---4---|-5-7-5-/6---6---|
    a-------/5-7-5---|-------/7-9-7---|
    E----------------|----------------|

    Chorus (in 7/8):

    e---------------|---------------|
    b---------------|---------------|
    g---------------|---------------|
    d-3---7---3-7---|-2---5---2-5---|
    a-5-7-5-7-5-5-7-|-3-5-3-5-3-3-5-|
    E---------------|---------------|

    e---------------|-------------------|
    b---------------|-------------------|
    g-2---5---2-5---|-------------------|
    d-3-5-3-5-3-3-5-|-3---7---3-7---(3)-|
    a---------------|-5-7-5-7-5-5-7-(5)-|
    E---------------|-------------------|
    *
*last time through the chorus, the final measure switches to 4/4.. add this 1/8 note

    (Pre/)Post-Chorus:

    e----------------|----------------|
    b----------------|----------------|
    g-2---5----------|-4---7----------|
    d-3-5-3-/4---4---|-5-7-5-/6---6---|
    a-------/5-7-5---|-------/7-9-7---|
    E----------------|----------------|

    (Intro/)Interlude:

    e-----------------|
    b-----------------|
    g-5---9---5-9---5-|
    d-7-9-7-9-7-7-9-7-|
    a-----------------|
    E-----------------|

    etc. etc. etc.

Notes: I'm not 100% that the first "chord" of the Pre/Post-Chorus is played down around the 3rd fret. It's essentially the same as the first measure of the verse, which I play around the 8th fret, so it may be played around the 8th fret also. However, it's must easier to slide up to the D/F# from the 3rd than the 8th. Also, the fingering for this song is pretty simple, and VERY repetitive. Use your middle finger for the root notes and your index finger for the 3rds, and use your pinky for 2nds and 5ths. For example,

    e---------------| e---------------|
    b---------------| b---------------|
    g---------------| g---------------|
    d-2---5---2-5---| is fingered: d-i---p---i-p---|
    a-3-5-3-5-3-3-5-| a-m-p-m-p-m-m-p-|
    E---------------| E---------------|

It's a real work-out for your pinky, and a very tough stretch during the minor "chords" (the intro/second measure of the verse, and the first/fourth measure of the chorus). But practice makes perfect, and it's a lot of fun to play once you get it down.

they're almost all in very funky keys if you want to play along

the intro of Crazy Easy is in two parts.. the first measure is in B (or G#m), and the second measure is in A. the concert pitch chord progression is: G#m F# E B, A G D A (you'll need to transpose that for whichever sax you play).. the verse is also in B (or G#m), and the chorus is in A

Joyride is like Rapunzel and Save Me.. Its intro/verse is in C, but it's played more like a funky G7. Its chorus is a straightforward E, with the measures' chords alternating between E major and A major. Its post chorus is odd too, it's like an Em until the last chord (the progression is Em F# G F.. the F doesn't fit well).. and its bridge (when dave wails away) is in C for the most part, but then switches for the last two chords. the progression there is C G Am Em F C Bb D.. the Bb and D don't really fit in that key.

Hello Again isn't too bad, it's pretty much Gm. However, the third measure of each phrase in the verse is a C chord, NOT Cm. Same idea with the chorus. the post-chorus/bridge thing is in Bb until the last two measures, which are Dm and D.

Sugar Will is, for the most part, in Am.. the progression is F Am C Bb.. the only funny part about it is that the Bb measure doesn't fit in the Am key.. the chorus's progression is Dm C G Dm.. I would say this chorus is in Dm, but the G chord throws it off.. so I'd say it's in Am also.. and the outro is just Am over and over

Good Good Time is the most straight-forward one.. it's just in Cm

this is probably WAY more than you wanted to know, but i've been meaning to sort through them for a while anyway

    Loving Wings

Does anyone know how Dave plays Loving Wings, he repeats the same thing throughout the song and it sounds really simple, just a suspended pointer 1 finger, but I still can't figure it out and could really use some good insight. Thanks for any help.

I found this site last night. Not too sure about the accuracy, but the 5 new songs from the summer tour sound close. I'm sure there are parts that are slightly off, but since the songs are so new, they seem to be changing slightly each night anyway....feedback on these anyone?

To the best of my knowledge, there are no studio versions. They haven't been brought into the studio yet. Rather, they probly are as we speak.

here is as much of joyride as i can remember off the top of my head, those first couple tabs were almost right, but not all the way:

    |---------------------------------------------|
    |---------------------------------------------|
    |---------------------------------------------|
    |--5-5555--5-5---insert---5-5555--5-5-5------|
    |--5-5555--3-2---woo----5-5555--3-2-3------|
    |--3-3333--3-3---here----3-3333--3-3-3------|

umm, thats the woo intro type deal...altho all those notes may be shifted each up one string...i cant remmeber exactly and dont have my guitar with me, but thats about what i remember. enjoy it.
