Ok good...I was going to say that it doesn't happen with any other record I own and it's consistent across the Academy discs.

I finally listened to disc one of Benaroya yesterday and side B is warped to hell. Dave’s voice sounds fine, however his guitar sounds out of tune during all three songs. Anybody else have this issue? Hopefully the rest of the records don’t have this issue....

Maybe he messed up retuning it after raising it back up from drop D? I don't have the ear to pick up something like his guitar being slightly out of tune

Depending on the severity of the warp, it could be causing issues with playback speed and thus making the guitar sound out of tune/out of pitch?

Jealous, mine is STILL enroute, not scheduled for delivery until next week

For those with Beneroya - is the davespeak stills tracked at the beginning of the songs? I can imagine that being very annoying on vinyl. One of the only drawbacks of this release. You'd have to scrub from anywhere up until 2-3min in, in some cases, to get to the beginning of the actual song.

edit: as I reread this - it actually makes less of a difference on vinyl b/c you're just playing it through ...either way - did they retain all of his talking on the LPs?

I'm pretty sure it's been mastered for vinyl...sorry if I'm not using the technical terms here, but it sounds much better than the original DMBLive download from the store.

Both shows were mastered for vinyl. Considering how rare that is for any release (DMB or not) that detail alone made this bundle an instant buy for me.

This is exactly why I didn't buy it. Fantastic show, but on vinyl, no thanks. Can't skip fast enough when Dave is talking about Brooke Shields. Too much wasted time for vinyl.

I've having the same issues with Academy. On my first twos discs, Side A-D, towards the end, probably the last :30, there is a pop that sounds every rotation on the record.

Thats how it is on the original DMBLive release as well. I think there was a problem with the audio or some shit

Yep that's how mine is...I'm tempted to send it back, but I don't feel it's worth the hassle. It's jus a lil' pop at the end of the discs.

It's actually pretty easy to send it back. I have replacements on their way and I will just use the label they gave me to send the crappy ones back. I would send them back if I were you. We pay good money for these releases.

Who did you contact for the return? I have the same issue but mine is through all of #40

Just call support. I got replacements but had more issues than my originals. Called them back and they have to receive the replacements back before they send new copies. I had the same issue that a lot of us are having with this release and had to get 3 replacements before I was happy. I did not have to wait like I do now. I’m not happy. It’s like the pressing house they use has issues with some of the groves. Call them on Monday if you have issues. I only see this getting worse as the releases keep coming unles hey ch age who they use.

Wowzers. These pressings are incredible. Academy Side D: Jimi > WWBOM > #40 just incredible. Carter on bongos wow wow.
Such a badass & unique show. Benaroya is soo clean, can hear the pick graze the ridges of the guitar strings, phenomenal job in this master. Really enjoying these two releases, I cleaned both sets thoroughly before listening and had no warps.

I received Academy and Benaroya last week. Listened to the first disc of Academy last night and it seems like there are a couple scratches on the disc bc it will have some noise each revolution. I need to listen to the rest, but probably sending back.

it has to be this, because I have this problem with almost every dmb vinyl I get. Remember Two Things. Crash. Academy. There is always an unbearable static noise somewhere on the pressing, which apparently is the result of not enough weight on the vinyl when it is being pressed.

Vinyl isn't cheap, but it appears dmb presses it cheaply.
