Thats not a very reliable list. NYC hasnt even been a semi-realistic landing spot based on anything ive seen over the past 6 months following this.

And I know Im a homer but they literally left pittsburgh off that list completely which kind of goes to show you they dont have a great idea and are just number crunching.

See, again, that's what I'm saying - sure they have (at least I've heard the NYC Metro Area thrown around). I'm sure there are places out there who you haven't heard about getting this that HAVE submitted their proposals.

Any article you read is just people saying things based on what Amazon is looking for. However, it's not JUST those cities that have submitted proposals.

I said that more tongue in cheek.

The PG said it was between $300-400k for the whole bid.

My boss Hogg comment was because he always has his nose in everyone's business. It just seems to me like if you want to do business in the city he's always right there with the city's hand out expecting it's palms greased.

Anyway, I think the tumbleweed airport and its lack of direct flights to Seattle will be a major negative.

He is definitely a little greasy in that aspect but he does a good job cultivating new businesses into the area and seems to be on the right side of social issues, so ive been a fan.

But yeah I think the airport is by far our biggest issue in getting this here. We check every other box besides that.

    That dude sucked so much.

He always reminded me of Ben Wyatt in Parks & Rec getting a mayoral position he was not ready for in any way.

His "ice town" was "Gonna change my name to SteelersStahl!"

While I would love it in upstate New York, even with the half assed submissions aside. Corporate tax in NYS ridiculous, pretty much ruling any spot here out of the picture.

Pretty much all taxes in NYS are ridiculous, it's crazy.

Paying property taxes in excess of $5,500.00/year on a $140,000.00 house is absurd.

If it’s not Austin it’ll probably be like Newark or Philly so they can claim NYC without having to pay the ridiculous taxes.

Damn. That's higher than even Texas (I am at about 3%)

If not Austin, my guess is Nashville or Charlotte/Raleigh. Educated population and good weather.

Property tax for us this last time was around $6k. We have a $140k note, but the city assesses our house at $275k.

Goes up every year. So yea, fuck Amazon. Take that shit somewhere else.

I've read on other boards/comment sections people just begging for it to be in Atlanta. Are you out of your fucking mind? Yeah every time I sit in traffic here I wish for 50K more residents.

Apparently Amazon is looking for a city with good mass transit. So that should've eliminated us from Day 1

How can they asses a property that much over what it cost though? Can't you challenge that?
I pay a over 10k a year in taxes, but I also paid $450k for my home. That rate in Austin taxes would be 20k a year on a 450k house.

His mortgage/note is 140k, not the value of the house.
Those texas rates are outrageous- upwards of 2%?

My real estate taxes are about 9500 a year in maryland for 1.060 per $100 of assessed value.
