Re: Amazon Prime

Cuomo just said he’ll pay for them to come anywhere in NY. I don’t think we’ll get it but Albany is pushing for it. I hope we do. This area needs something big, badly. We’ve got a huge tech industry up here already, it’s growing very rapidly. But businesses are leaving NYS in droves bc of taxes. We’ll see.

I'd like to see some midwest city like Detroit or Pittsburgh get it. Atlanta has too many people as it is. They need it more than most of these other cities do.

Our capital (Little Rock) wrote a "break up letter" to Amazon about the HQ2. Secretly they knew Amazon had no interest in coming here

Just a couple things for my dogs that they take every day, so I know exactly when it will run out.

For myself, I don't use anything regularly enough to subscribe. It would either come too late or too early and I'd have to find space to store it.

Some months I'll skip an item (like I don't need the case of wipes every month), but I get at least 5 / month to get the 15% off (diapers & wipes are 20%).

Hope it doesnt go to a cliche big city like NYC or Chicago. Think putting it in the Midwest would be a big catalyst but also would be kind of cool to have it in the Carolinas. Charlotte making a big push for it.

Haven't heard anything about either of those cities.

Sounds like it's either Austin or Atlanta.

Are people purely making conjecture here or has there been something in writing that says those two cities are the front runners?

I honestly havent even heard Atlanta's name pop up on anything about this. Pittsburgh, Philly, Charlotte and Austin are the front runners from what Ive understood.

I haven't heard about any cities being front runners - just cities throwing their names in the ring. All I've seen are lists why the aforementioned cities would be a good and/or bad fit.

I can't imagine how awful Austin's traffic would be if they got Amazon. During my brief week there I hated leaving the hotel or the jobsite purely because traffic was so horrendous.

This one says Atlanta, Austin, Pittsburgh and Toronto as front runners but Ive seen different ones.

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/marciat.../#12c18a386168

Boston was already ruled out internally by amazon I believe I read somewhere.

This one says Denver, Pittsburgh, Austin, Nashville, ATL, Memphis, Cincy and Columbus.

That's what I'm saying - it's all over the board depending on what/who you're reading.

The first article - conjecture based on Amazon's stated standards as compared to those cities' infrastructures.

That second article - cities "best suited". It's somebody saying things.

When people in here are saying this city or that city is a front runner, that means nothing. Amazon hasn't come out publicly and said anything about who may or may not be a front runner.

    Literally nobody has any idea.

I think its reasonable to think the most common mentioned ones in those articles are front runners. Its about cost/location and existing economy, and thats how a lot of those articles are fleshed out at least.

Amazon did say they preferred it in the North East, thats why Im surprised ATL and Austin are getting mentioned so much... but that second article is from over a month ago.

The way the Pittsburgh mayor talked about it the other day definitely seemed like he had a firm idea we are one of the ones on the short list.

But in the end, noone actually knows for sure.

Agreed - that's about all they've said besides setting their standards.
