Total first world problem, but our house cleaner ghosted us yesterday. She texted Wednesday night as she usually does to confirm the time etc. Then never showed up. I texted her an hour after to see what time, no response. Then I texted this morning to say just wanna make sure everything's okay. We've had her for 2 years and never an issue. Hopefully everything is okay. But also, how long does one wait before looking for a new person?

Does she work for a company or self employed? If she has a boss, maybe contact him or her to see if everything is o.k.? Or if she has other contact info, maybe contact them? Otherwise, I'd say if she doesn't show up for her next cleaning schedule, then look for someone else.

Just a lady and her husband (who I think sometimes translates for her). I found where someone had posted her business card on Nextdoor, and there was another number, so I texted it. It turned out to be her husband and he was like yeah you never responded when she texted to confirm. I told him the messages must not've come through and sent him a screen shot. He showed me a screen shot of her phone with no replies from me. So who knows, but I think we're back on track now.

Gross post ahead: had some plantar warts removed from the bottom of my my foot today. Have had them for a while but they didn't look like much or bother me at all, I just thought they were calloused spots. But then our 2yo had one at the base of her pinky toe and we went to a podiatrist, and we learned they're contagious. Showed her my foot and she said yep you've got em and probably gave it to her.

The treatment is a topical ointment that basically pulls it out and causes it to blister so it comes off. I went back to the doctor today, a few weeks after my daughter went through it, and now I understand her pain. Hurts like hell to walk. Hope it works as well as it did for her.

Irritated that I'm suspended indefinitely from work. Kind of fucked up. Not sure what else I could do if I lose this job. Not sure if someone would hire me due to my lack of a college education and my inability to do certain jobs. Hopefully my Union rep calls in the morning and has some good advice.

My work has new software that requires the date to be input in the following format:

22/JUN/21

As in June 22nd, 2021.

It's not just some dumb auto-formatting that converts dates into that format. You are required to type it from the get-go in that format.

No actual human has ever typed a date this way. What the fucking fuck?

Day/Month/Year makes perfect sense, you go from the smallest unit of measurement to the largest.

The US is the weirdo on this with our Month/Day/Year format.

No. I'm not talking about the order of day, month, year. Im talking about mixing numbers, letters, and backslashes.

Being required to type that mixed formatting and backslashes is awful. 6/MAR/17

Day, month, year is not the problem. Only 2 digits for year is terrible, 3 letter month is terrible, and preference to 1 digit day if applicable is terrible.

People who won't reply all when you email them with another person or more on copy. Especially when you have to go back and forth a couple times and you keep adding the other people back on, and they continue to only reply to you.

When we slug stories for the paper, we do it 062321 before the rest of the code. But yea, U.S. is the only one to do it month, day, year.

When it's 3-x people for a specific thing, reply all. When it's the whole company, just reply. It blows my mind people can't figure that the fuck out.
