Legend's Vally looks like a cool venue. All the dinosaurs poking out. Be hella cool to see a show there.

Legend Valley up on archive. Started with N1. Really solid start. On Arcadia now. Curious to see this 20 min version

I'm going to the next 2 Goose shows, my first concerts in roughly a year and half. So fucking pumped, feels good.

Not at all worried about setlists, but top wishes:

    1) Empress
    2) SOS (dawn)
    3) Madhuvan
    4) Rosewood Heart (been hooked since that acoustic/electric peformance)
    5) So Ready (My wife's favorite Goose song), but I'd also be thrilled with Slow Ready--->Fish in the Sea

What's the TL;DR? I imagine it's a bunch of butthurt phans that a new band is making a splash and they dont' want to come to grips with the fact that they're actually good?

Great weekend. Friday definitely edged out saturday, but that run of elmeg through Earthling N2S2 was fan fucking tastic. So glad to get dawn and Moby.

Legend Valley was great outside of everyone getting crammed together at the campground. Staff was very chill. When they opened gates and were were driving into camp they were sounding dawn and a couple as the cars were pulling in, really set the vibe.

Glad im doing NYC in a few months, already itching for another show.

I'm not venturing into that cesspool either, but I assume this will be very close to accurate. A bunch of jaded vets who refuse to recognize a good thing.

Yes and no. Just some people completely trolling saying they are trying to sound like Phish (which I couldn’t disagree more with). And just more trolling how Goose isn’t good, the band members are assholes, etc. You would think you were on PT

So dumb. Does Rick's guitar tone occasionally sound like Trey's? Sure. But it's nearly impossible to sound 100% original these days.

And since when were bands shunned for admitting their influences? Things like this are why they don't cover Phish, and why Phish doesn't cover the Dead.

Exactly…but Goose can cover the Dead.

Imagine being so fragile and cultish that you feel the need to shit on other artists and music that others like, simply because there’s similarities and overlap, and that band or artist is getting recognition.

The haters are a loud minority. This run ive seen lots of comments about people hitting their first shows and being impressed.

Having haters and gatekeepers in general says something about where they are anyway.

I saw some debate on Twitter earlier about what type of band Goose is capable of becoming in the next 5-10 years. What do y'all think? Could Goose play MSG some day?

Somebody was talking about Umphrey's being one of the best and biggest jam bands and Red Rocks is basically the peak of their selling power. They don't even play MSG. Basically no jam bands beside for Phish do.

I have no idea, honestly. To me, they're far more accessible than a lot of the other jam bands, including UM, who I've never been able to get into.

I'm just hopping on the bandwagon this spring/summer, but I feel like I'm still getting in relatively early. Excited to see where this train goes. It's been a while since I discovered a new band I liked as much as I've enjoyed these guys.

WSMFP and SCI are the best and biggest jam bands…outside of the obvious.

First jam band my wife has ever liked. Their pop sensibility and Rick being able to sing will do wonders for them. I don't know that they will hit MSG status but I honestly don't think it will take them long to pass up everyone that isn't Phish if they keep up this pace.

Goose has that something that most of the other “new” jam bands do not. What that is depends on the listener - song writing, vocals, jam style, cover choices, whatever - but they’re the one band out of the newer generation that appeals to many. Bands like Twiddle, PPPP, Dopapod, etc. have probably hit their respective peaks in that they’ll sell decently at clubs and make plenty of festival lineups but that’s kind of their limit. Goose took advantage of the lockdown more than almost anyone else, and kept themselves relevant in a year without real touring. That and their raw talent has gone a long way for them.

And don’t forget that plenty of Dead fans hated - and still hate - Phish. There’s always going to be some sense of rivalry or jealousy or whatever. Personally the only true jam bands I listen to outside of Phish and the Dead are Umphrey’s (love their harder proggy edge) and Goose.

Widespread Panic is basically a regional band. They're not gonna sell out an arena in Portland. But they could in Atlanta. Red Rocks is known for being a jam band venue so of course its easy for them to sell there.

SCI isn't that big. They're playing the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville later this year. That's basically a club.

Goose could play MSG. I mean Vulfpeck somehow did it and they're not near as good as Goose.

Sculpture park in denver is 7k and its not sold out for next month... also Mission Ballroom is around 4500 in the fall and still not sold out.

Obviously RR will draw a lot more people traveling in but I dont think I can see it before '23.

I feel like they could do RR relatively soon as an "event" with no other shows a month before or after... but probably wouldn't get close to filling it as a date on a 20 date tour.

I need to listen to more Goose. They were the last show I saw before COVID took over (opened for PPPP) and I enjoyed them, and I have liked a couple of the shows I've listened to, but I don't think at this point that their jams really go anywhere/do anything. They are talented, and will probably reach the level of UM/WSP in a few years, just need to grow more as musicians and a band.

Obviously RR will draw a lot more people traveling in but I dont think I can see it before '23.
Yeah, but how much of that is due to A) being still relatively close to “reopening” and still some lagging hesitancy and B) (probably a bigger one) concert budgets taken up by the larger acts touring after a year off.

People may view it as “don’t know how much longer Dead & Co will be around, I’d rather drop a few hundred to see them than $60 to see Goose; Goose will be around for years and I’ll have a chance down the road”.
