If you don't mind traveling a bit I highly recommend Twenty Tap on 54th and College Ave. Usually one of the best tap lists in the city and their food is dynamite.
Also, for food Fat Dans Deli is a must stop at 54th and college (right next door to Twenty Tap). They also will have solid beers on tap but their wings are the best in the city IMO. Smoked and flash fried. So delicious. They also have amazing burgers, sandwiches, and a dynamite brisket sandwich.
In Keystone Crossing I believe the District Tap is also a solid place for beer and food, but I might travel a bit east and go to the Ale Emporium. Loaded tap list and their Hermanaki Wings are almost as good as Fat Dans.
For Breweries, check out Deviate at 96th and Michigan rd. They are my favorite in the city currently along with Black Acre. Black Acre is a bit of a drive, but if you have time it's completely worth it. You can find their beers in some stores.
But my favorite beer bar in the city is the Koelschip on 25th and Delaware. They offer sours/saisons/and funky beers that aren't normally at places like Hopcat. Hopcat is fine, but the food sucks IMO. Crack fries aren't as good as Twenty Tap fries or Brugge Frites......plenty of better options.
I could go on.....but work is getting in the way.
