Can somebody please explain to me why you would ever format your email in such a way? This person is a repeat offender, there are multiple people that I work with that are, it's infuriating.

My fiance gets those all the time at her work. These are people who work for the regional office of a quite large corporate bank.

I love my editor to death. He's become a great friend, went to my wedding, etc., but this past Sunday he took off for his fantasy baseball draft, leaving it to just me and one other guy laying out the entire newspaper. Like, come on man! Thankfully it wasn't a terrible day.

yeah I mean people taking off work is a fact of life. I don't really understand why people, particularly people who are not bosses, get their panties in a wad when other people take time off work that they negotiated for.

He made up the schedule, and four days before his draft, he texted me and the other dude and said "I'm taking off Sunday." In hindsight, everything turned out OK. But the newspaper is not a two-man job anymore. (It's not a three-man job either, but that's a whole different irritant in itself.)

Why do I need to submit additional documentation for expenses incurred at my primary care physician, and for chest xrays? Clearly those are justified medical expenses.

When we used it through my husband's employer, it was like that.
Sure, I'm at a physician's office and paid for my co-pay, but sure, make me jump through hoops to send in more documentation to say yes, it's a co-pay.

The company my employer uses is easy. They've never asked me for any additional documentation.

oh, I'm still renewing. The benefits still outweigh the costs, IMO...but I have high medical expenses due to my non-functioning pancreas.

Still irritating though.

edit: Also, just paid for braces with it and saved $500 since we were able to pay in full up front.

agreed; the company that administers my FSA never asks for additional documentation for any level of co-pays, but when it's some random dollar amount i need to climb mt everest to prove that it was a medical expense. just last week i took my toddler to an ENT for her ear infection, spent $131.09 on the FSA card. they required backup, so i submitted the emailed receipt that i got from the doctor's office. it's got everything you could possibly need on a receipt (so i thought), but it's not enough since it's not an itemized receipt

cause you know, i also buy groceries and alcohol at the doctor's office so clearly they need to know that it was a true medical expense

but yeah, the benefit far outweighs the annoying inconvenience. i treat FSA money like it's monopoly money, it's great

when we were interviewing nannies for our kid, we had two scheduled on day one. the first one absolutely knocked it out of the park, tons of experience, worked as a pediatric nurse, church-goer, all that. we wanted to hire her right then and there but we had the second one scheduled and didn't want to just jump at the first candidate.

the second one delayed the start of the interview to finish her cigarette on our porch, immediately said that what we were offering wasn't enough money, told us that she wouldn't commit to watching just our kid/s, and to top it off-complimented our dog, and told us that she used to have a golden, too, but it died of heat stroke when they left it outside while they went on vacation.
