Curious to see how major events coming up handle this issue (NCAA tournament, since D3 already is making restrictions), Golf (masters), NBA, baseball, etc.
FYI - for platinum tickets, the face value is the price you paid (it will be printed on the ticket)

It all depends on seasonality. If it's seasonal, it'll be gone in a couple months.

gotcha. I didn't buy any, but was just curious about the refund policy of those compared to resale tickets.

Yeah I used pneumonia not to compare it to COVID19, but rather look at the numbers produced by pneumonia itself. It's my understanding that pneumonia is the main and most fatal complication of COVID19--the disease itself has even been named Wuhan Pneumonia? Don't quote me on that. Since we have more than 1 million cases a year, and 50k+ deaths, I'm simply saying the spread of COVID19 is really going to have to take off to reach the levels that other viruses already reach when it comes to pneumonia. I obviously don't want COVID19 to win the battle of the viruses when it comes to causing pneumonia. In fact, it can fuck right off.

I'll admit that 40-60 days isn't a great sample size. Every virus is going to have ebb and flow throughout the year. But it at least gives us a snapshot of possible trends. Things are just intensified when all eyes are on it.

SXSW Is just about cancelled. Or at least all the major companies have pulled out and most of the live events cancelled (not sure about the concert portion)

Here in the SF Bay Area, the San Jose Sharks game went on as scheduled on Thursday night. Levis stadium and other venues are not cancelling up coming events as of yet. Right now theres a cruise ship sitting off of our coast with 20 some passengers who may have Covid-19. Seems like every day, one or two new cases are popping up here in the Bay Area. Its still very small, but will be interesting if numbers start to increase in the next few days. And what happens with the cruise ship off shore. I think that ships needs to stay off shore, then needs a deep cleaning. I don't know how accurate this chart is, but look at the Diamond Princess. Its sitting right outside San Francisco right now. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ Time to deep clean that ship and make sure the passengers currently on board are well taken care of.

I'd like to apologize. Apparently the ship mentioned in the link is the Diamond Princess. The ship sitting outside San Francisco is the Grand Princess. I apologize for any confusion. Moving forward though, waiting for the test results of the 20 some passengers who have symptoms of Covid-19. I still stand by my statement though. Deep clean that cruise ship once they figure everything out with whats going on right now.

If you want accurate information on Coronavirus this is a great Reddit group. It's global, moderated, and people don't talk bullshit there.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Coronavirus/

Those of you mocking the seriousness or blaming "the media" watch too much Foxnews. Do you have relatives or friends over 60yrs old? The mortality rate goes up up up up as you get older due to the way the immune system reacts. 3.6% over 60, 8% over 70, 14.8 over 80. Even if you don't die you may end up with sever pulmonary fibrosis (lung scaring) or you may just get it again and die.

Lastly, this virus has been known for all of 2 months. We don't know if people are actually "cured" from it. We don't know all of it's effects. We won't know any of that for a long long time. After many people die. There's time now to try to keep it from becoming an everyday reality. Trump's people aren't letting hospitals test unless there are certain symptoms. Trump et al don't want it to seem serious because it's bad for "Trump". No testing = no new cases. Wishful thinking but this is serious.

In regards to concerts it'll probably affect the tour in some fashion.

If it gets worse in America and shows no signs of slowing/stopping it could impact events in the summer. The good news is that management can wait until pretty much the night before to cancel a show or the tour or parts of it.

There is too much money to be made to cancel anything this far out and it's easy to postpone or cancel. It's a concert, just cancel it and refund money.

This is a terrible analogy, but it's kind of like this netting they're putting up around Major League Baseball. If you're the team that doesn't and somebody is seriously hurt, you're opening yourself up to a heck of a lawsuit. With these festivals and now SXSW cancelling (and all these corporate travel gigs telling people to work from home), bands and promoters are almost setting themselves up for lawsuits if they don't cancel.

I'm still travelling to see Pearl Jam next month (if the show goes on), but there are a lot of reasons why summer tours could be (and maybe even should be) postponed or cancelled.

I can't stand that people aren't taking this seriously. It's not the flu, it's worse. The R0 on this thing is worse. It can live on surfaces for 9 days. I thought the Chinese were horrible in the beginning but their methods are working. If shit needs to be canceled then do it. The Coronavirus subreddits have been very informative. Way better than all the news sites out there. You can also follow china_flu and coronaus subreddits.

Well colder weather can effect immune response due to blood vessel restriction. Also, reduced sun can lead to lower vitamin D levels. It’s also suggested that viruses thrive better in cold, dry air.

Warm weather doesn’t necessarily stop a virus from spreading, but definitely helps our bodies gear up to better fight infection.

As far as surface survival, just remember that any test done is on a variety of surfaces in a controlled environment. I’ve seen anywhere from a couple of hours to 9 days, but I haven’t seen any info on any variables, but I know viruses don’t typically last long on smooth surfaces such as metals, glass, plastic etc.

That’s why taking zinc in the winter is important. It’ll boost your immune system so it’s easier to fight it off.

I don’t expect the Summer Tour will go on. I very much hope I’m wrong.

Is Covid-19 concerning? yes. Is the media/society overreacting a bit? yes.

This is a new strain of Coronavirus, and we've seen many other strains before so its not like some new type of disease has come around. While there is no vaccine (yet) we had a similar event in 2009 with H1N1 flu i.e. a know type of virus but a strain that wasn't planned for. I work in healthcare. This is likely to be very similar to H1N1 in that we are going to have several pretty concerning months until we get a vaccine and then this will be a bit more business as usual. Wash your hands. Especially wash your hands before you eat, rub your eyes, or pick your nose. Limit your contact with other people (a good plan during flu season anyway, there are often strains of flu circulating that your vaccine didn't cover like the Type A strain that was killing young people a couple years back). Many people are infectious with the flu and have no symptoms and can spread the virus. Covid-19 is likely going to be just like a bad flu year, but this isn't Ebola. If you are really young or really old or have an underlying immune problem or respiratory disease, or have household contact with an immune or respiratory compromised person, you should be really vigilant. But we don't need to shut down society to deal with this. Get your info from credible sources, and get your info directly from them. Lots of social media nonsense about "what the CDC is saying" that isn't remotely what the CDC (or WHO) is saying. Just like with vaccine science, you can listen to some dipshit on reddit or you can listen to a consensus of medical researchers. Make a good choice.

you got to think that a ton of people have this and it goes unreported because they don’t go to the doctor or they don’t get tested. The Death rate is much higher then the reality. Hopefully this will die out once the weather gets warmer. So around late April into May it starts to die, and the tour goes on in June as expected.

If they play Australia I can guarantee they will be playing in the United States.

Why are you so sure? The tour isn’t until June.
