Probably going to be another scenario of letting your stars coach.

Since when does the NBA care about global citizens?

The least watched World Series game drew millions more viewers than the most watched NBA finals game. Not great.

Anyone who is holding up the ratings as this sign that the NBA is spiraling downward probably already doesn't watch or care about the league.

Since when does the average fan give a shit about how many eyeballs were on the product?

Fun anecdote that I see repeated a lot, but it makes no sense. Obviously there is a large group of people that used to watch the NBA but no longer do.

I’m sure there is some of that, yes. But I know you are going the “everyone who decided not to watch anymore is racist” route so, lol.

Using ratings in a year when there was a pandemic in the middle of the season probably isn't the best evidence that people don't care about the product anymore.

Every league has experienced ratings drops this year.

This panic over the ratings is a bit premature. Yes, if it continues it's obviously not good, but there's nothing to suggest it's not an anomaly right now.

Doing significantly worse than MLB which is dealing with the exact same issues is not good.

The MLB was also operating during its normal timeframe. The NBA has never played meaningful games in late-Summer, early-Fall.

Pandemic and an election year. Everyone melted over the NFL ratings in 2016 and they bounced back fine.

Ratings seem like more of an industry media talking point than anything else. You don't typically hear people at the bar talking that the Rockets/Warriors game 5 got a 1.8 in the Nielsen.

Just sent a text to my fantasy NBA league that we are back! Stoked for the quick turnaround. Hope it doesn't lead to lots of injuries.

I like the late start as well. Less overlap with football.

Lakers will attempt to become the first team in NBA history to win 2 NBA titles in less than 11 months.

It has been weird not having games on the last few weeks like we normally would. College ball is starting soon but who the fuck knows how that will go.

July-August are the only brutal sports months. having the NBA around during that time would be so great, basically no off months ever

It would be cool, but TV ratings during summer months are not good. NBA from a $$ perspective have to end the finals in mid June.

    This is the key part.

If they went second week of December to Memorial Day Weekend and then playoffs begin the Tuesday or Wednesday after, the conference finals would begin some time around the 4th and the MLB all-star break. Finals would begin after and conclude by the 31st. They could also finagle the schedule to potentially avoid going head to head with MLB all-star weekend.

Gorman does weekly spots on Toucher and Rich during the season. It has been a rough year for Tommy from the updates Gorman was giving them.

I don’t really like most of the local guys but Tommy was the best, loved listening to him.
