Needless to say, he still doesn't seem sure it fixed the issue. Two days having it back so far so good. Time to buy some more vinyl.

Great to hear your receiver is in full performance mode again! It's the worst when a component goes down and not being able to fix it on the spot.
I posted in here ages ago about my Pioneer receiver not working and then I didn't know what to do about it, so I hooked up my first receiver from the 90's. I finally found a repair shop specializing in vintage equipment. The owner worked for Pioneer back in the day too.
For those in the Philly/Jersey area that may need their components refurbished or fixed, the shop is called Audio-Tronics in Cherry Hill, NJ. Frank, the owner, said someone drove their Pioneer SX-1250 from Ohio and stayed in a hotel while it was serviced because these specialty shops are vanishing.
