Re: **The Official Vinyl Collectors Thread**

I'm glad I never got around to trying to pick up these on vinyl before this was announced. Is there a set time for it going on sale tomorrow?

If you're going for just one, I'd absolutely go for the analog set. The remixed/remastered set is likely to be louder and more compressed, and since they remixed and remastered it digitally, having it on vinyl is kind of pointless.

Also, unless I didn't interpret the live video with Garth going over the packages correctly, the analog box will contain CD's with the remixed/remastered versions, so you'll get both anyway.

$50 for 7 records sounded too good to be true, that's why I asked. I'll probably be buying all 3 for the $100 and gift two.

Interesting, I'll have to look into some of his more recent stuff. Seems like I missed a lot.

    Nice work!
Thanks! What will putting them at an angle do for me? I'm definitely giving it a try.

Also, $50 for a 7 LP box set is an amazing price!

Also, I'm shocked more people haven't been talking about Vinyl Me Please's release of 3 Feet High and Rising next month. I ordered that today, very stoked to finally get a reissue of the classic.

I hope they do a good job with it, the record is notoriously pretty crappy sonically on vinyl. Great album too!

Actually more stuff I am actually interested in this year than the past several. Fortunately, pretty much everything that piques my interest is 'RSD First' so I don't have to deal with it.

I had the same reaction. Mumford and Sons acoustic, YES!!! oh wait on picture disc, FUCK!

Overall a pretty ho-hum list for me. The Ten in the Swear Jar set is my only real must have. Looking at Saucerful in mono, and maybe the Fela Kuti. Tons of OST stuff this year, those must sell well.

And I'm guessing its $10-12 in store for one of four 3" singles (the fun is in not knowing what you are getting?) and you have to buy another player to use them? I thought RSD cassettes was the jump the shark moment, we are now cartwheeling over an octopus.

Got all the way to putting my card in, gave up after watching that wheel spin for 30 mins while I worked on my other screen. What a joke.

Re: **The Official Vinyl Collectors Thread**

Audio people, I have recently purchased Polk RC-80i ceiling speakers to pair with my SX-770 and Technics SL-23 turntable (they speakers should be delivered tomorrow). After ordering them I had read that an under powered amp could damage the speakers, I had thought it was only the other way around. So these new speakers have a power range of 20W-100W.

    My SX-770 spec sheet says:

Continuous Power Output (both channel driven: 8 ohm 15 + 15 watts
Continuous Power Output (each channel driven: 8 ohm 20 w/20 watts

I'm not sure the difference between the two ratings above. Will I potentially damage the speakers I have purchased and should I find another set with a lower power range?

    Thanks for any help

You should be fine. Your receiver is a vintage one and the power ratings there are much more "true" than most equipment today which is what the warning on those Polks is based on. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, this is a shitshow. I am working late tonight so just doing it in the background but it's been over 2 hours and I still can't get one.

Early on I actually go to the point where I entered my CC info and shipping info, clicked Complete Order, and then it just spun for several minutes and eventually said there was an error.

    Absolutely terrible system.

I finally was able to get an order placed. I actually ended up ordering 2. I kept trying to get my birthday as the #, then saw someone in the comments say they had success just punching in a random #, so I did that and it worked. Then I tried again with my birthday and got it!

So, I'll have an extra (or extra 3, as it were...) If anyone wants my extra (for what I paid of course) PM me!
