We have an autoimmune child, so I can't risk bringing home COVID.
I see no reason why those 2 points can’t come into play. I know it’ll be controversial, but it really shouldn’t be. Show proof of vaccination or a recent negative test, symptom temperature check, and force people to wear masks. If that’s what I have to do to go to a concert I’d be happy to. Not sure why they can’t just implement these measures and call it good.

Exactly. I'd be good with that. And that's totally reasonable right now. I mean, 500k people have died worldwide so it's not like they're asking people to do anything crazy.

That is totally reasonable in your situation. I'm just ready for concerts and sports to come back. I'll be in attendance the very first chance I get regardless of restrictions or lack there of.

Oh as am I. Due to our daughter's condition, I don't really leave the house. Since March of 2020, I've only really left the house to go to the grocery store. I can probably count on two hands how many times I've been off our property since then.

You're a good guy and a great dad. Hopefully soon we can get back to normal and yall can live life outside your property again. I think the end is "near" though the end for yall might be a bit after that given your situation.

And we only have two million people here, so I think vaccination in Arkansas will move along more quickly.

One of the news stations had a doctor on yesterday (sorry can't remember who it was but I think the channel was CNN) that said with the addition of the J&J vaccine, he expects that by April, anyone who wants the vaccine will be able to get it, without waiting - in other words, supply will exceed demand, at least in the USA. If that is the case, that bodes well for things that are going to require vaccination for participation.

Edit: I'm not eligible in NY, but if I was, I easily could have gotten it by now based on appt availability on pharmacy websites and NYS vaccination sites.

We're on Phase 1-B, and I'm in Phase 3, so it'll be a while. I'm the last group eligible because I'm young-ish (almost 40) and in good health.

Me too, I got mine because of my job. I didn't care about getting it for myself. I just wanted to get it over with in case the scenario you laid out becomes reality when large events return.

I don’t believe that at all, distribution is still a problem.

Temp checks and entry screenings are purely medical theater and offer no help as to what gets in. This virus has proven that you can be asymptomatic and cause a super-spreader event. And anyone in their right mind who has a fever isn't going to feel well enough to go to a concert.

Vaccine cards are unlikely to be adopted for entry. The barrier it creates is something most businesses aren't going to be privy on because you're turning away customers. Plus there's already markets going to get fake vaccine cards.

Read yesterday that 10% of Americans are fully vaccinated and nearly 20% have had their first dose. Consider that in the month of march that 20% will get their second dose, bringing us up to 30%. That doesn't count anyone who gets their first shot in March. Two things about that: 1) The US supply is increasing close to 40% in March alone. 2) The first dose of Pfizer and Moderna has proven to have ~90% efficacy.

The narrative is going to change soon. The variants have proven to not be a thing (yet). So far all the vaccines still react strongly (60%+) to the variants.

I'm looking for the article that I read this morning but by May we will have enough doses to vaccinate 220 million people. That's not counting people who've been vaccinated in Dec-April. We have something like 800 million doses coming by July.

I think April will be a surprise if we can open it up by then but I really believe around Memorial Day if you want it you can get it. By July you'll be able to walk into Walgreens on a Tuesday at 3 PM and get the shot with no wait.

    Re: 2021 Tour Rumors/Status

I have no inside information at all, but based on a bit of somewhat educated guessing combined with my own hopes for the next year or so, I could see something like this happening:

Postpone nearly all June/July dates to summer 2022, Cancel Vancouver, reschedule Mohegan for Fall 2021, and add some more arena shows for fall 2021. This would leave us with a 2021 tour that looks something like this:

9.3.21 - The Gorge Amphitheatre - George, WA
9.4.21 - The Gorge Amphitheatre - George, WA
9.5.21 - The Gorge Amphitheatre - George, WA

9.11.21 - Five Point Amphitheatre - Irvine, CA

    10.2.21 - Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - Greenwood Village, CO
10.8.21 - Choctaw Grand Theater - Durant, OK
10.9.21 - Choctaw Grand Theater - Durant, OK
    10.19.21 - United Center - Chicago, IL

10.27.21 - Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville, CT
10.29.21 - Madison Square Garden - New York, NY
10.30.21 - Madison Square Garden - New York, NY

NY apparently just announced a new program to test to see if someone has gotten the vaccine. I haven't been able to find out much more than that though.

Huh. That was the only one I didn't check cause I assumed I would have known if anything was happening. I guess I'm just not the target audience for Harry Styles concerts.

Most of the venues I did check were pretty wide open, so I'm sure something could be worked out if they wanted to go that route. 3-night MSG Halloween run would have been cool though.

That’s kind of a shitty attitude to come along with. I have no reason to lie. I'm talking about my experience here in NY. Just to show you, this took me 5 seconds and was the first site I checked (there are more appointment available further down on the page but I purposefully took a screenshot of the top of the page so you can see that it’s the first covid shot):

I didn’t say you were lying, I’m just not gonna believe anyone that wants to get a shot in the next 60 days will be able to. Nothing you post is gonna change my mind.

Gotcha - I thought you were referring to me being able to get a shot. Sorry about that.

Regardless, in NY it is not that difficult to get a shot right now. I do feel a little bad for those that are not tech savy though. If you are quick on a computer it is pretty easy at this point, but a lot of people aren't. There are a lot of social media groups that have been created now where people are helping others get appointments, which is nice.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced a pilot program to test the Excelsior Pass during events at Madison Square Garden and Barclays Center. First announced in the Governor's 2021 State of the State address and developed in partnership with IBM, the Excelsior Pass will use proven, secure technology to confirm an individual's vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test through a confidential data transfer to help fast-track the reopening of theaters, stadiums and other businesses in accordance with New York State guidelines. This new technology was successfully tested during the initial phase of the pilot during the Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center on February 27. It will now be tested for a second time during the New York Rangers game on March 2 at Madison Square Garden.

This right here is the reason I got my 5G upgrade. When events come back I'm going to be there.

How the heck would that pass work if you wanted to take your 10 year old kid to a game, concert, etc? They don't have their own phone, account, etc. Seems crazy....more and more like Big Brother is watching over us.

I think there would be an age floor. If you are under 15 for example its not required.

To the bold he is. We are all watched all the time. We pay $1200 a year for the privilege of being watched.

If that is the case, that bodes well for things that are going to require vaccination for participation.

Any so-called Doctor who believes that by next month, anyone who wants the vaccine will be able to get it, without waiting, is out of their mind. Perhaps that's true in a handful of smaller states, but nationwide, there's no way. More like at least July/August, IMO, before that occurs.
