Heroin use

Heroin seems to be a topic Dave likes to sing about. I know he claims to have never done it before and the whole thing about "its a problem if you can't afford it and an even bigger problem if you can afford it." He seems to go into some pretty deep detail however about it in a few of his earliar songs.

i think that people make the mistake of thinking that songwriters only write biographically.

what's that gonna show? A skinny, dazed looking fellow who looks like he COULD have been addicted to heroin? Unless the pictures you're talking about show some needle entry marks on arms or something then it sounds to me like it gets us nowhere.

There is a big difference between songs like Bayou or Hello Again, which is not based on personal experience, and Rhyme & Reason, which biographically describes drug abuse so vividly. I mean obviously I don't think Dave really drowned anyone in a watery grave, but heroin use is a bit more likely.

i dont think dave has any shame in admitting that hes a marijuana user....jimi thing makes it pretty obvious

if i wrote a song about illegal immigrants rights in this country i dont think anyone would think i was actually writing about myself

so, how clearly you describe the experience determines wether or not it is biographical? you seem to be an expert here...

agree....Dave has done many drugs but I can pretty much say he has never done heroin. Acid, coke, weed, boat others...shit I've tried em but don't do em anymore. heroin gotta say nope sorry.
