Re: Walk Around the Moon (album) discussion

Based on the Madman’s Eyes single, I’m really looking forward to hearing Walk Around the Moon, The Only Thing and Ocean and the Butterfly. Short track times are disappointing though. Hope the new songs are good, maybe they’ll develop some jams on the road.

I will say Madmen’s Eyes sounded pretty good but my hopes aren’t too high for much of the rest. I have a feeling we’ve already heard the best songs on this. I’d be interested to know why they included break free and not break for it? Seems like they worked on both and had the space.
Because management is totally tuned in with what the kids like these days...vinyl is in, complex songs are out. Gotta make that bank.

Just listening to the tracks (live) except MME - I am excited for this album. I can dig a quickie lil album if it bangs hot and true

Agreed. I think WATM, The Only Thing, and Ocean and the Butterfly have a chance to be great songs on the album. I really hope the 5 *new new* songs are enjoyable. Sadly might just be quick little diddies.

I wonder if DMB will play SNL in April before the tour starts since the album will be out a few weeks later and Rashawn has played with the house band.

I’m hoping for the same thing, but I’m pessimistic given their recent track record. They’ve done virtually nothing new with the CT songs, and they all sound basically the same live as they do on the album. And the new album songs we have heard haven’t developed at all live. If anything they were shortened. I hope I’m wrong, and the band turns a 2 minute song into a lengthy jam, like smooth rider, but it’s doubtful.

I feel like Bruce's, Scott's, and Chad's "quietness" today has been kind of telling. I wonder what their thought are on everything. Hopefully they'll tell in some time.

Just gonna say it again- I’m SO excited to hear WATM, OATB, ToT, and SFTW. Hope the unheard tracks are good, but I’m really looking forward to having crisp studio cuts of the songs I mentioned.

Hmmmm... have to wonder if this means there could be some movement behind the scenes that's still being discussed about what to do with those songs.

Hopefully they'll at least play them live at some point so they don't get lost forever.

haha so many vinyl options but nothing for pre-orders or even warehouse members. Strange choice, we will see if it pays off.

Bruce - do you know what they're planning to do over the next 4 months to promote the album and/or why such a long lead up to the album release?

I’m just at a loss. The bonus disc thing I heard was that it’s in the bag.

I was just waiting to see what it would be, not “if” we got one

So I’m just as surprised as anyone

Do you know if those track times that were posted are in fact the actual track times / that the album is 42:42 long?

Was just looking back at the whiteboard from 2020. Obviously Monsters and All You Ever Wanted Was Tomorrow appear there and were selected, which gives us some context about how long those two songs have been in consideration. But the most intriguing thing I see on that board, as pertains to this album, is the recurring side note “CB electro kit”

I believe there’s room for both. This thread is a legitimate thread about the album for folks who want to discuss things that won’t get lost in the shuffle. That other thread is way too hot and is almost it’s own entity separate from the rest of the forum

It is interesting how they announced it. It doesn't seem like it will be promoted heavily but it is early days. It's too bad they didn't give us a bonus disc or Live Trax from 2022 tour with it.

The Wood Brothers just announced an album today and it comes out in mid-April. Wish DMB did that timeline, but oh well.
