No they don't they have one of the deepest rosters they've had in awhile especially if the young kids produce. They out shot the Islanders by 14. They actually have a positive shot differential.

Expect goals are basically the score card. They were winning that fight. They did that inspite of Shesterkin not playing well and not giving their best effort.

Much needed win for the Rangers and still common 3rd period melt by Detroit.

Definitely fun anytime your team explodes offensively like that. Shesty needed a win as well to get some confidence back (he has looked very human this year).

All of that said, I want to see the Rangers win 3-4 games in a row and 7-8 out of 10 before I am going to stop panicking about where they stand. The NJ Devils are playing like one of the best teams in the league, the Islanders are looking like a playoff team, Philly is in the conversation and Pittsburgh/Washington are likely to start playing better. Everyone will be chasing the Canes by the end of the year in that division. Point is; one win doesn't impress me yet.

Next up is a chippy Arizona team that just beat the Islanders and are having a great road trip so far. Trap game for the Rangers.

Forgot about the trip to Nashville first. Figured I’d update this since it was wrong.

Rangers out shot the Preds 35 to 18 and still lost 2-1. So happy we had all those extra expected goals!

Halak sucks, the Rangers suck and this team is not making the playoffs unless they start dealing players or chopping heads of the coaching staff. They are definitely doing their best to prove to the world they were a complete fluke last year.

Nashville did a good job of clogging the middle and also blocking Mika's shots. This team is fine. When you keep getting more SOG on your opponents you're going to win.

As expected and predictably, hockey analysts have started to examine the likelihood of the Rangers missing the playoffs this season as we are a week out from Thanksgiving. Their road trip out west will likely make or break their chances of making the post season.

The Hockey Guy began talking today about what changes may be forced if the Rangers do miss it this year and emphasized the fact that they very easily may miss the show this season with the way they are playing.

Logged into Ants for first in 4 years to check my show history and add to it . I saw the band at MSG last night and going again tonight. For several reasons, it was my first show since 2018.

That said, I see some familiar names still around.

My islanders are doing much better than last year. Goaltending remains the key but nice to see we are scoring more this year . Right now, I'm wishing I was around for our deep runs in recent years. Good times.

Nice to see you post again Sal! Hope all is well and I really hope both the Rangers and Islanders can be in the playoffs together again for the first time since I even started watching hockey (crazy right!).

I also forgot DMB was playing MSG. Amazing how out of touch you become when you move away from the NYC area.

Tried to watch a Rangers game for the first time in 2 weeks. They are immediately down 2-0 and look like shit. I seriously hate this team sometimes. Not sure why I bother. Going to bed.

Just messing with the hockey gods because I know they like to mess with me. I posted the above, got in bed, turned the game on with my laptop and the Rangers stormed back and won .

They only win when I complain apparently. Also, games out west are so hard to stay awake for. Only attempted it because no one cares about work today!

Ovechkin got #790 tonight, meaning he’s 12 away from passing Gordie Howe. The Caps may be hot garbage at the moment, but this has to be the story of the NHL for the next few seasons. Nobody thought Gretzky’s record could be approached or passed, but he’s well on his way to breaking it. Just has to stay healthy!

Assuming the bolded, I think he does it

He's signed for three more years after this, he'll be 41 at that point and that would be a career for most mortals

What's absolutely fucking wild about Gretzky's points total is that if you take away every single goal he scored, he would STILL be the all-time leader in points

Halak is single-handedly going to keep the Rangers out of the playoffs. I wouldn’t let him start for a beer league team anymore. Obviously the Rangers need to address their backup situation at this point.

    Shesty 10-2-3
    Halak 0-5-1

    Yikes.

I was always a fan of his. I think he would be our starter had Shesterkin not shown up in NY.

That said, the Rangers are in big trouble. Their backup goaltending is costing them a lot, but that is not the only issue.

Their "prospects" are looking awful again. Laf is completely lost and a bust.

Halak sucks. We need a new back-up. I feel like we gave Georgiev away.

What a comeback win for the Bruins. A new NHL record for 12 straight home wins!!!!

So…you still delusional enough to think the Rangers are making the playoffs this year?

Rangers blew a 3-0 3rd period lead to lose 4-3 and not even get a point. I don’t even know what to say at this point other than the fact, and harsh reality, is that Rangers fans need to accept that this team sucks this year.

I for one am probably checking out. I’m confident enough that they are not making the playoffs that I’d be willing to bet a fair amount of money that they will miss it this year. I believe they have already waited too long to make any meaningful changes that would fix this sinking ship this season. Gallant likely to be on the chop block now.

    The Kraken are ... good?

Or at least one of the best in a weak division?

C mon Greg. A little early here. Yeah. They kinda stink right now. But still. There's 60 games left and they're right there with all the other mediocre teams. A few teams are starting to separate, but they aren't in danger of missing the playoffs yet. And I know some of this is just being a fatalistic fan. I get it.

Wake me when your team has had their THIRD 10 game losing streak (and 5th of 6 or more games) since last November. We are so bad.

    Hockey response:

I think the difference is the expectations coming into the season. Flyers were expected to be bad, maybe slightly better with a shot at a WC if things really went well.

The NY Rangers were expected to be a cup contender, with my favorite hockey analyst (The Hockey Guy) even having them as his pick to win the east.

I understand teams sometimes don't meet expectations, but what the Rangers have done this season is a massive implosion on those expectations. They are really horrible and it just hurts to watch.

    Personal response:

Absolutely fatalistic of me. That said: Most on this forum are also aware of my unhealthy relationship with the Rangers. I have done some work on that this last year and since that last post a few days ago have reprioritized my thoughts again to put hockey and the Rangers back in the perspective that it really doesn't matter. This is just a game that doesn't really matter at all in the end. It has been a long battle for me to remember this is just entertainment that has no impact on life. I realized backreading I was falling into those bitter posts again the last few weeks.
