Looking to make this trip for the first time. Do any of the hotels have transportation? I tried to book the Gideon but that is sold out unfortunately.

I'm not sure about transportation, but if you're ok with a 2-2.5 mile post-show walk there's a handful of walkable options, most of which are right near Broadway, so you won't need a car all weekend. Here's a few options:

- Holiday Inn
- Embassy Suites
- Hilton Garden Inn - currently sold out, but right outside the park
- Homewood Suites - newest hotel in the area and right across the street from the park, but farthest from downtown
- Saratoga Casino Hotel - also pretty far from town, but just a little past the Homewood suites if walking from the park
- Some other motels/B&B type places are also in this range if you look around

There are a few more options in the 3-3.5 mile range that will get you right into the center of town

I stayed in Schnectady and just drove up - easy drive - just had to be responsible with the alcohol.

Just my opinion, but you're better off in the town than in the Gideon. Gideon is great for walking to the show, but outside of the show, the rest of the action is in the town.

For a first SPAC experience yes, I'm personally done staying in Saratoga but it's a lot of fun

This will be my first SPAC too! Super excited, and after living in the midwest and last year doing Jones and Holmdel, I'm FINALLY ready for some highly regarded sets and shows.

Yes 100%. Lawn will be readily available if all else fails. Opt out of lawn and opt into premium (i.e., request both regular and premium seats). The demand for seats is so high at SPAC you need every chance you can get, and even if you don't want premium, you'll have no problem trading them (if you're lucky enough to get confirmed) for regular seats further back.

Hmmm. Okay, not sure the ol' bank account can handle premium unless I decide SPAC will be my only two shows. I'll weigh it with my buddy who doesn't have WH.

For clarity, are you recommending putting in double for each show for better odds? (Like 2 premium request plus 2 pit/reserved seating request per night?)

Yes, request both a regular pair and a premium pair of seats for each night. And if you're friend has an account, he should also request.

And if your friend doesn't have a WH account, he should pay the $35 and make one. He'll have much better luck getting confirmed on his new account than you will on your account with seniority.

2010, my first year as a WH member, I was confirmed for summer tour WH pits/field at Citi Field x2 and Nats Park. Winter tour I was confirmed WH pit/floor for Buffalo, Albany and MSG x2.

2011 I got all Caravan WH tickets I wanted.

2012 summer tour I was confirmed WH pit for Toronto, Blossom, Darien Lake, Alpine x2, Star Lake x2. Winter tour confirmed WH pit/floor for Toronto, JPJ x2 and Philly.

(Some of these are so-so, but both nights at MSG? Alpine? Star Lake? JPJ?)

Ever since then, it's been less confirms, more denies. Last few years I've had to trade or scour the boards to find the pits I need. ALL THE WHILE friends with new accounts are getting confirmed left and right for pits. I even had a friend let his 12-year account expire just to turn and create a new one. Guess what? He's getting confirmed for pits again.

Take what you want from the data I just presented and form your own opinion, but I have formed mine.

Objectively, yes, they say there is an equal chance. Unfortunately, we have absolutely no way to prove or deny that statement. We have no true insight into their algorithm. It's probably somewhere in their T&C's too that they reserve the right to influence or change the algorithm at any point based on their sole discretion.

Any way, in my experience, the algorithm favors new accounts or gives them more weight during the confirm/deny portion of the ticket process. When it comes to night 1 of a two night stand, or seniority night, that is when an accounts seniority has influence, but only on seat location, post-confirm/deny process.
