I’m not TOTs biggest fan. It’s the worst by far of new songs IMO. But it’s probably better than 90% of CT so that says something at least.

I think it’s the best by far of the new tunes. But I love Last Stop, Minarets, Beauty of Wynonna, Drive in, Drive Out, What You Are, etc. so this is right in my wheelhouse. And I agree that it sounds familiar but it’s a step in a different direction that I really enjoy. Post chorus riff into verse is the coolest thing they have done in a while. Liking chorus vocals more and more every time I listen knowing they will be perfectly mixed on the album. Buddy does that high note Dave goes for in Squirm which he said was the most glorious sound he has ever made, or something like thaT, so you know he loves what Buddy is doing. Jeff is finally going nuts with two horns and people still need to find something to bitch about.

Ditch Windows and Ocean and the Butterfly and give me more of this hard, dark DMB. That is the DMB I love.

    This.

Windows is what it is, and I don’t mind the song, but I don’t need it on an album. OATB can completely disappear and I’d be fine with that. I liked it the first few times Dave played it solo, but I do not like what the full band has done with it, at all.

Eddie Vedder New solo lbum is coming out February. He's already released the single and a second track. I don't know if we can use this as any indication on the band's new album but if a star like Eddie vedder has already ramped up the PR machine for a February release it leads me to believe the new DMB won't be out until after March.

Which completely supports the impression. Again, not hating on it I just don't get the fawning over it.

Just listened to MME again… what I don’t like about it is what I don’t like about current DDTW: it’s in your face from the start. No building, they’re both just right on top of you immediately.

Current DDTW has had some killer intros that do the building for it.

Central Park DDTW is incredible and it didn’t have any build to it within the song structure itself.

There are plenty of songs in the catalog like that. I guess it just comes to personal preference, but I don't mind songs that are aggressive from the start. Not all songs need to build up. WATM has more of a build up. I think both songs are great. As for DDTW, I have always preferred the studio version.

I imagine we get announcement and first song late January and will be on pace for a early April release.

My favorite version. Also love how the video of it pans around the park and NYC during the intro.

It’s been a while since I watched, wasn’t there something cool like that during the WYA into too? Like a wide overhead from a helicopter?

So any recent updates? I have to say that more Covid variants always make me nervous in terms of where this goes next. There's no great time to release an album so might as well just get it out early spring?

Best guess is that they'll make an announcement when they announce tour plans for 2022.

Last night, I was thinking about the Metaverse and Robolox and how there have been some virtual concerts on there. Then I thought about the Lawnmower Man post from earlier this year. Then I thought, “HOLY SHIT! Is that what was being hinted at?”.
Is the band planning on doing some kind of virtual album release show through Robolox?

Considering how long it took them to put out BluRays instead of DVDs, I would surprised, but it made that post make some sort of sense to me.

Haha! True. But in uncertain COVID times, the idea of them doing some type of virtual metaverse concert makes some sense.

The band just played a full tour. Anyone worrying about covid affecting them when most of them have already had it is being a bit of a pessimist I’d say. I honestly doubt it’s at the forefront of any of their minds when it comes to a next year summer tour.

It's less about them and more about how the ongoing pandemic might affect concertgoers and venues. I'd love for COVID to no longer be at the forefront next summer, but I thought that's where we'd be this summer, and...<look around>.

I’m not currently worrying about Covid effecting them at present. I am thinking of that in context of that Lawnmower Man post which was posted back in July (I think) and trying to make sense of it beyond people thinking they’re going to have a song in the Matrix movie.

The Lawnmower Man post was only referencing the giant eye on the poster, teasing Mad Man's Eye. I don't think it means anything more than that.

No, the original LMM clue posted over at TDC had nothing to do with MME, as far I can tell. The eye/poster only came up after LMM was mentioned here and someone was digging into it and one of those in the know pointed out that the poster had a clue to a song. But that was not the original LMM clue.

Although I didn't make the Lawnmower man post, that post was certainly intended to tease a song name, and nothing else. Reading too far into it.

I just skimmed through the last few pages, and it doesn't look like anyone has pointed out that the guy who posted all of the song abbreviations on TDC has said that LFAV = Looking for a Vein.
