What doesn't he have any idea about? The fact that the shows could have been rescheduled for the break at end of this month, or that while I'm sure the Gorge performances were spectacular, they were not exactly full DMB shows in the way anyone would expect. One look at the setlists could tell you that.
While it's wonderful that Buddy can play the drums, he's no Carter. Which is why Carter's drum kit is not on the stage, and the more basic set was the one Buddy used. He's an adequate drummer, but he's an amazing keyboard player, and that's where he should be. Behind the keyboards.
It's like asking a Shortstop to play 2nd Base. Sure, he might be able to do it well enough to get by, but his expertise is at Shortstop.
It's a slight on the fans, no way around it. I'd go so far as to say that other than Dave, the most irreplaceable band member is Carter. In some ways, he's as important as Dave, since he's responsible for setting the pace and the tone of each song.
