No, the Flyers didn't get ANY haul. They sent Gostisbehere, a 2nd and a 7th to the Coyotes, who sent them back a wet fart and an LOL.

The contract extension is probably an overpayment but it plugs a gaping hole on the blue line left by trading Keith and picked up a top tier D-man in his prime. A lot of backup goalie options out there for the Flyers. Interested to see who they pick up. Preferably a veteran that Hart can bounce ideas and concerns off of like Elliott.

Damn, Hawks are very active this past week and a half. Today they shipped Brent Seabrook's contract to TB (so TB adds LTIR space since he is retired) and got Tyler Johnson in return. Assuming Toews is back it would give us three centers who average 20 goals or more a year (or are young and close to that mark) and over 50 points at least. Also snagged (on the cheap) Jake McCabe who should return from injury as the season begins and be a top 4 solid D-man (h(hopefully)and chip in offensively as well. Not a bad two weeks for the Hawks with their additions (assuming Fleury fulfills his contract and Toews is back along with Pius Suter and the Blackhawks suddenly look poised for a nice playoff run even in the central! Happy so far this offseason despite severely overpaying Seth Jones who is statistically on the decline and not worth just shy of 10 million bucks a year for 8 years but I will take it regardless since we have some guys coming off the books after this season plus some cap and LTIR space which hopefully give them room to resign Suter and Kampf!

Agreed, but in that case they cold get hot at the right time and somehow pull something off like Montreal last season - they have some cap space and can give up some draft picks or prospects to fill void and maybe even land an impact player on the last year of a contract (for peanuts at the trade deadline) when the team is out of contention and the guy wants out. Hockey is strange like that, a team can just gel at the right time and go on a run like the Habs last season. Who knows, guy can hope right?

Yea, I wouldn't bet on them going deep right now, but all it takes is just getting into the playoffs...
