ok, i thought so. im almost positive there is an interview that was put out around the time of aftw being released w lillywhite; and he says they used a sonar device to make that sound on the studio track...

Cool, no one read my post...

Kidding, s'all good, but yes that's a sonar ping.

seanbrutus confirmed my speculation that Carter's triggering it. If you watch one of the first snare hits, it looks like his left hand is hitting the snare and his right may be going past it to a pad next to the snare, but he's definitely hitting the snare more often than triggering the sonar sample.

I know this will be an unpopular take, but if Sleep To Dream Her was written and recorded during the Lillywhite Sessions, people would have a much different opinion about it.

I think it's nearly already there. It does things in music theory that are interesting that have already been noticed, and more and more people leaving comments, I see here, are being to turn their opinions around from turd to something neat they'd like to hear. I think Roi no longer being with us has tempered our enthusiasm to wanting to hear it at shows.

Oh, I wish Build You A House became something. I get vibes that somewhere Dave used that sentiment to propose to his wife, and that riff fits for a wedding proposal song.

He a dream about Raleigh last night.

Dave left the band. His replacement was Daniel Craig, playing flute and singing.

They played the best set list we’ve seen - only deep cuts.

Amphitheater was only about 100 people.

    It was awesome.

    Thirteen years ago today

    Quote:
Just finished two great days in Hartford. DMB pulled out a few tunes not yet played this year. Midway through the set last night, crew members wheeled a keyboard onto the stage where Dave sat and played Out Of My Hands. This was his first time playing keys live with DMB. After his flawless performance, he comically joked with the band about the torrent of thoughts that raced through his head during the tune. They opened the show with Bartender tonight with LeRoi playing Oboe, also for the first time ever on stage. His tones hovered beautifully over the intro and outro. Tonight's was an easy set to get lost in.

Does anyone remember the Dave solo improv in 2014 or 2015? It was before either WAYG, Grace or Rapunzel (can't remember), and it had lyrics something like this:

    This road, rocky road
If at the end I find you
If at the end I find you baby

Ya' ever at a show and hear the applause after a song nobody wanted to hear and think that the applause was not for the actual song but the fact that it's over (and, thus, the opportunity for a better one has been created)?

Haven’t listened to DMB in years. Just listened to LITHOG from Scranton 2010 and Coffin goes OFF. He sounds absolutely gassed after his solo. Made me miss the old DMB

It was on IEM, 5/18/02. After they played it, Carter said “something’s not there, that tension is missing”. And Dave said “fuck that tune, I hate that fucking tune. Fuck that motherfucker.” Then Carter said “that last part the way it used to be played is what made it, now it’s not there anymore and it sounds like a basic tune”. Then Dave says “I don’t know if I can even figure out what that tension is. Lillywhite was singing along with it, that’s probably what was happening.”
