I think Hello Again makes for a great opener regardless of the circumstances. For the first show this year though would be unreal

Squirm's lyrics are actually relevant to what has happened this last year. Through all the anger and division and uncertainty, we're all going to be there--together--and for that time, despite our differences, we'll all belong.

The buildup of Squirm makes it a fantastic live song.... however

It's way too slow/ depressing when the opening chords/ drums start. I do not want this to open the tour after 16 months off lol. People won't freak out when Squirm opens.

If any of these songs open, the crowd will flip:

You're right. I personally like the slow buildup to when those horns finally hit, but it doesn't have the "pop" that this moment calls for.

So glad I’m not only one who has pondered this more than is likely normal.

For me, that first song is less about the meaning or lyrics and more about the feel. I think the opener should be something joyous. We know Dave usually paces himself, but in this case I’d like to see them just bust out something very upbeat and happy. So my choice is Rapunzel. PNP is a nice intro and then that whole song is just 6 minutes of joy. And of course they could just unload on the outro.

Hadn't considered this, but count me in for a rapunzel opener. I know you said you didn't care about the lyrics or message, but ironically, not sure we can do much better than the opening line of PNP. Also yeah, jam would be a face melt, totally satisfied if this is what we get in July.

I think Too Much would be my choice, for some reason I keep going back to that, gets going immediately, song everyone knows and can get excited about right off the bat.

Granny, Billies, & maybe even JTR if using 12 string for PNP.

PNP>Ants would be a great upbeat curveball that would get a huge pop.
