Re: The MLB Thread

deGrom leaves after 2 warmup pitches in the 6th. Mechanics looked off in the 5th after going 12-up and 12-down through 4 on just 39 pitches. Looks like the lat issue flared up on him and his landing spot was off.

5IP, 1H, 3BB, 6K, 1ER. ERA *balloons* to 0.68

Hopefully not going to IL

The offense still isn't there, the pitching is carrying the team. I thought it would be the other way around going into the season.

yep. its incredible how many of them are just not doing anything at the plate. a few of them? sure that can happen. but it just seems like they've all been hit by the slump bug and its lasting way too long

I wouldn't call it a bitch fest. The Yankees were 5-10 over the first 15 games, including losing 5 straight. They couldn't hit for shit and were second worst team in baseball. Now they're starting to come alive but still too many guys struggling at the plate. Doesn't hurt to have the hottest hitter on the planet at the moment to get your back on track.

Xander Bogaerts just took a pitch to the cup, ricocheted off the cup and nailed the ump in the chest. So strange to see both down in pain from a single pitch.

If they’re getting vaccinated they obviously want to avoid pain and suffering. This tracks.

The spot in center field is pretty cool (that’s where the 7 Line Army sits).

The upper deck stuff is not great

Mets cannot stay healthy. Conforto looks like he pulled a hammy running out a ground ball in the 1st.

Nimmo, JD Davis, Guillorme, deGrom, McNeil (who is at least DHing today), and now Conforto. Plus Carasco, Lugo, Sundergaard.

    Ugh.

    McNeil is now down too.

5/9 of the opening day starting lineup is injured.

That was gruesome. I had just sat down with the game on and it was the first pitch I saw. Amazing he got up and walked off on his own.

Then I read that our best pitcher punched the dugout the day before and broke his hand, out for months. Dumbass.

My co-worker is excited for the upcoming 30-for-30 about him. I said it didn't interest me at all and his reply was, "why would you not want to watch a documentary about the best player in baseball for most of his career?"

ah yes, okay. that is definitely objectively false. but it's not damning him with faint praise to say he was a top 10-15 player for a long time.

Jeter was one of the best in the game during his career, sure. But he was never THE best player in baseball. That isn't a detriment to his career. But that's also a fact.

That's what I told him. The obvious overlap with players like Bonds, Arod, Pujols, just to name a few.

Overall, no. But when it mattered, absolutely. His postseason stats are insane.

Out of all his stats, this one blows my mind the most. Between 1999 and 2000, he fell behind 0-2 225 times. In those at bats, he hit .303. Pressure never got to him.
