Been seeing DMB since 2007, so I’ve played the game with tickets a time or two, and just panicked and bought lawn seats for Fiddler’s Green like a damn noob lol.

I knew it would be Monkeys on a String before I clicked on it. Alex Cortez really does sound like Dave. It's freaky.

Here's a link to a Dave and Tim style show he did with Kevin Cummings a few months ago. https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/...atch_permalink

My goodness, the Warehouse message boards are so bad. There is no rhyme or reason — no pun intended — to how they are organized.

I very rarely check it. It seems to be a fairly active board, but it's incredibly silly that there is not a DMB/music section and a non-music section.

Not just that but every post is met with sarcasm. There’s a few super active guys on there that all post the same sarcastic response to everything.

The ticket thread is even worse. Riddled with ISO threads and other completely unclear posts. ‘Looking for 2 tickets, have 4’. Without saying what show it is, or what they have or want.

Maybe not controversial, but I genuinely look forward to hearing Louisiana Bayou. +1 for me at any show.

I don't hate it. I enjoy the outro especially. But LB is a song they seem to either play the shit out of or not play at all. I would appreciate it more if it popped up a few times each tour and not at every other venue. There are many other songs I would prefer to open the second night of SPAC, lol.

Buddy turned LB into a real banger.

So glad to have keys back. It was sorely missed.

Did Buddy ever switch to piano on LIOG instead of organ?

This will anger some people. I think Proudest Monkey from Live Trax 15 is the band’s most overrated performance.

I basically stopped posting on the main boards there when I got into an argument with one of the guys and got a warning for name calling lol. I just want to go there and talk about DMB, not about Trump or politics. I'm glad it's ticket season again, but I'm more grateful that I am all set for my shows and don't have to deal with those boards.

I was huge fan of this tune in 05. Especially if Robert Randolph was in town, which he was when I saw them in Columbus. It got even better when they added that additional chord change later that summer. It's still fun to see.

He really should. I was thinking about that recently when listening to one that had Butch. The keys are far more suited for that song than organ. None of DMB's songs really need organ. Bayou works, but outside of any southern sounding tunes, Buddy should stick to piano.

Didn't know this was a highly rated performance. I've never seen anyone talking about it. Proudest Monkey is so good, but like anything when played too much it can tire out. There was a stretch there where it was getting played way too much.

I think the next song DMB should cover and add to their rotation is Eddie Murphy's Party All The Time.

Or they could do this one at the end of Jimi Thing with Carter doing the vocals in Minarets rap intro style…

Thanks for the heads up. I just found out that he posted the video of Rain Down of Me and Love of My Life from that show (ft. Santana AND Bela Fleck and the Lovely Ladies). So cool to have video of it now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFrNdyO_Ywc

Edit: Had no idea Dave and Santana did Love of My Life in 2011: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQ9JtypIaw4

This is definitely an interesting take. Can I ask why you think it's overrated? I prefer other '08 Proudest Monkey's to this one as well (namely 6/24/08 at Mansfield) but why overrated?

First of all, I’m not as in love with the guitar solo as others. But second, I’m not a fan of there being a guitar solo in the song in general, I want sax.

I would disagree and say it is one of Tim's finest solos. The build from slow bends to intricate runs. The raw emotion in there. The little repeated licks. The virtuosity to even be able to play like that. The only thing I don't like about that version is Rashawn's lackluster solo.

For me, the Spring '99 D&T tour was the apex of Proudest Monkey, all of those were just top notch. I like it full band, but it's smooth with just guitars.

i like how every album is named after a lyric in a song and not just always named after the title track.

    for those who didn’t realize
    album: song
    uttad: ants
    crash: crash into me
    btcs: the dreaming tree
    everyday: everyday
    some devil: some devil
    busted stuff: busted stuff
    stand up: stand up
big whiskey & tggk: why i am
away from the world: the riff
    come tomorrow: come tomorrow

Don't want to rain on the parade but, Everyday, Some Devil, Busted Stuff, Stand Up and Come Tomorrow are all named after tracks as well.
