Re: The NBA Thread

Brooklyn playing around with their depth, allows Milwaukee to come back

Jordan on Antetokuonmpo might not be a de facto preswitch, that might be Brooklyn’s preferred matchup on him, they’re gonna have a bad time tbh

Milwaukee really smart creating more chaos by fighting the first screen, forcing slightly tougher looks. Forbes making shots helps too

this game doesn’t matter but if Nash wants to win it’s probably curtains for Jordan, and maybe start running Harris plays more

Brooklyn hasn’t changed anything and Antetokuonmpo is feasting

Milwaukee changes to some clever stuff on Durant in the middle of the 3rd, to get it out of his hands- allow Antetokuonmpo to switch on him one possession, then put two on the ball the next

Brooklyn’s got absolutely nothing for Antetokuonmpo, target practice

a little bit of a failure by Nash not getting Irving or Harris involved, but he might be holding his cards close to the chest. might wanna save all the strategy for the playoffs at this point offensively to avoid Milwaukee getting reps today and Tuesday

this switching defense is perfect for Budenholzer’s playbook tbh. Antetokuonmpo, Middleton, and Holiday all with favorable matchups on an island in the last two minutes

i think everyone got a chance and same result

not sure Claxton can play any defense, but maybe he and Brown can be some more creative options in a long series. otherwise, there was nothing. i bet you they zone up mid series should they meet

good game by Fournier/Nesmith among with Tatum, but Portland on fire. Charlotte has a really hard time guarding Miami, so many smart veterans making plays. Dedmon is incredible. looks like most likely Miami is taking over 6th tonight dropping Boston to 7th by a game

San Antonio b-team is surviving but looks like Philadelphia is taking control of 1st place

i only have this game in the background but Dallas having trouble guarding penetration again, and missing open shots. gosh Sacramento really has their number

Dallas has given Sacramento 11% of their wins this season. Good news is that we won’t see them in the first round

same thing as when baseball had the last day of the season matter a ton, and as a result they created the one-game playoff, which resulted in something coincidentally cool being basically impossible

i mean to play devils advocate it’s kinda working at least for this year. Sacramento, San Antonio, New Orleans, Golden State, Chicago, Toronto, and Washington should’ve started tanking a month ago but instead they’ve been playing hard. i like it so far for that reason

and i like the uncertainty of 1 and 2 not knowing who they’re gonna play. less fair but more fun

if the goal is to deincentivize tanking, make more money, and make things more fun/interesting it’s working

if the goal is to make things fair it blows

just depends what side of the coin you’re on i guess. i’m not a fan of the MLB wildcard game and NCAA first four but i don’t think those leagues needed a change in the first place.

NBA was in desperate need of a shake up without breaking too much tradition and this is a step in the right direction

pretty sure it would do nothing for tanking, but I feel like going 1-16 regardless of conference would make for more interesting first and second round matchups

man i’m not confident in anything without my model, which has been an absolute disaster with all these injuries

just doing my numbers shorthand i think New York +3 at (-110) is a good price. Memphis isn’t great at guarding the three so if Bullock, Randle, and Barrett can match their performance from last week, Memphis will have a rough time. their only advantage against New York is offensive rebounding and general interior defense but i don’t think they’ll score enough

yeah that might be breaking tradition a little too much for me, but i like the idea more than most people. but imo that would make tanking way worse, whichever the worse conference is that year, teams would give up way earlier. and the travel would be wild
