2# per week is great but usually not sustainable after the first month or two. A pound a week is nothing to sneeze at.

Thanks, hadn’t heard about that.

Personal note: 11 years ago my brother was involved in a police shooting, killed a black man. Similar circumstances to this story. (My brother was cleared by grand jury but he never returned to the field) I always have a personal reaction to police shootings that make the news.

Even being from “one side”, I’m able to look at each side as best I can before I make judgment on the decision to shoot. Transparency and accountability are 100% needed and I hope we continue to move in the right direction.

It’s important to remember that these incidents effect both families. Changes them forever. Selfishly, I’m glad my brothers incident happened prior Michael Brown which I fee was a big turning point. Dealing with just the local media/community was awful.

Anyways, like I said this story just hits real close. /late night ramble

In our current environment, it certainly feels like reactions will be:

Cop = White?
Victim = Black?

Result = Racist cop firing for no reason, until proven otherwise.




So the only way we can trust anyone is if we give in to Big Brother and record everything everywhere, at all times.

Maybe for some, but I think we have seen a fair majority on this latest one make clear they think the shooting was justified.

We need less of these broad-brush painted narratives, I think. A true both-sides issue.

I do think we need to avoid to much of a knee jerk reaction each situation is different. The lack of accountability over the years has built up though. I think most people now operate on the assumption a bad shoot will be covered up, even if the department is truly on the up and up. Any thoughts a national committee to oversee use of force incidents? Something with actual power not just an advisory board.

If your Fox News you can. I had a guy at work mention the spikes in Texas a few weeks ago and started to blame the illegals. I just looked at him and said yep. No use going down the rabbit hole.

Not just use of force, but all policing.

Agreed... it's not just 'something' though. It's a lot of things. And until we recognize it's not only the cops where the changes need to occur, we're going to continue this cycle.
