I'll be super sad if that happens. Have a stub to every show I've been to. Most sports teams are shifting away from hard tickets (Cubs are fully mobile this year). They say it's to curb fake tickets with scalpers, but I'm sure it's really to save a ton of money printing tickets.

I went to the Big Ten Tourney and NCAA Tourney in Indianapolis. All the venues were mobile only. But your point is unfounded -- the scanners don't touch your phone. So unless your germs magically jumped off your phone, it's pretty safe. Although I guess you could just scan a hard ticket too but those would be changing hands more often. Regardless -- COVID-19 is not spread by fomites, so that has no bearing on the hard ticket vs. mobile argument.

Save on postage!? I feel like they charge like $4.95 to ship hard tickets out and then there's a damn 32 cent stamp on the envelope when it arrives. They make plenty on their postage markup!
