Re: 2020 Tour Rumors

Glastonbury canceled, I think this will kickstart a lot of festivals/tours canceling or postponing. Likely postponing to 2022 again, kick the bucket down the road again with the money.

I have a lot planned for this summer, DMB and otherwise. If it all falls apart and the Gorge is all that is left I'll be totally fine with it. Unfortunately, I think I'm with you there only being a 25% chance of it happening

I think they'll postpone all the shows before the tour break and start the tour in September at Vancouver/The Gorge, and do a fall/winter tour

Idk it’s so weird. We were making these same post last year. Are we going to be making the same post in 2022 too. Guys I think the fall shows of 2022 have a chance of happening, and we can move the summer dates to 2023!

Kicking that can down the road!

Just read now if we actually do 1 million doses in a day every day , almost everyone will be vaccinated by spring 2022.

IT would not surprise me. I’m not going to be THAT pessimistic yet, but I honestly have zero expectations at this point.

This is our best option I’m afraid. This absolutely NEEDS to happen. I wish more acts and live nation would fight this a little bit. IMO they should just do all the shows, at full capacity. Mandate masks and require proof of vaccination or a recent negative test, and open the fucking gates!

I know it’s not going to work out, and it’s really starting to piss me off.

The misleading statement about 100 million in 100 days i read was it was 100 million doses or 50 million people with 2 shots required. We need at least 250 million people with both shots to reach about 75% ..

Summer shows are over. They just have to decide refund money or keep and say tickets good for 2022.

As far as venues doing testing pre show. Will never happen. who is paying for the testing, what medical staff will be on hand and who pays for that. Nice thought will never happen. I worked/managed stands at a venue the last 6 years during the summer. I see the politics that happens in these places and the money made each night. Venues got a 15 billion dollar bailout and bands can file for ppp loans and grants. They will be fine, not as well as with concerts but will survive. Workers not so much. Bidens first actions was to put about 50k workers out of jobs with the pipeline and wall. Agree with them or not nothing like purposefully ending good jobs during a pandemic..

At this point, if Dannys ideas are correct I would be a huge win by seeing shows in September

Sorry, was not meant really a political right or wrong. More if you think things are going to change quickly to get shows up and running that is not really going to be top priority. We have a very long way to go and 22 not 21 is more realistic. My sources tell me forget this summer..

Except for the part where you basically accused President Biden of putting a lot of people out of work because he's opposed to the pipeline and a stupid wall that he's not going to claim that Mexico will be paying for.

Yeah? Well I just read, the vaccine isn't performing well against some of these new strains. I think it's safe to say, we don't know much of anything right now.

saw two things posted on the 10C that I'll steal and post here:

1)Tampa and the NFL are allowing 22,000 for the super bowl in a few weeks

7,500 of them will be fully vaccinated Heath care workers

If we can do this in February, why can’t we do similar things in October?

And for those hoping the DMB tour starts in Canada:

    2)https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/ani...lout-1.5867870

Procurement Minister Anita Anand says Canada doesn't need to approve additional vaccine candidates to meet its goal of inoculating everyone who wants a COVID-19 shot by September and that its target could be reached ahead of schedule.
Canada gave the green light to Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna's messenger RNA vaccines last month, but independent regulators are still reviewing other candidates, such as the AstraZeneca-Oxford product.

"Prior to Christmas ... we exercised 20 million options of Moderna. So that allows us to have 40 million doses of Moderna now in addition to our 20 million Pfizer doses," Anand said on Sunday in an interview on Rosemary Barton Live. "That allows us to hit about 30 million Canadians."

Both vaccines must be administered twice.

Under the contracts it has signed, Ottawa can still receive up to 56 million more doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Anand told CBC Chief Political Correspondent Rosemary Barton that discussions are ongoing to exercise that option.

"We will be on track, without doubt, to ensure inoculations for all Canadians who want it by the end of September, if not sooner," she said. "That is the goal that I am pursuing every single day, moving up that end of September timeline so that we can see ourselves through to the other side of this pandemic as quickly as possible."

But people are being vaccinated right now, we’re at around a million vaccinations per day which would get us to a little over 100 million Americans vaccinated by September. And there’s more vaccines on the way that are single dose shots. The only hurdle getting in the way of things going back to normal is people’s willingness to get the vaccine.

why is this a dumb analogy though? If 10-20K people can watch a football game in a stadium, theoretically couldn't 10-20K people also gather for a concert in a stadium?

It probably doesn't make sense logistically or financially, and I don't actually think it will happen, but I don't think it's completely out of the question to suggest that 15-25K capacity amphitheater shows could be moved and played in 70-80K capacity football stadiums.

It probably doesn't make sense logistically or financially, and I don't actually think it will happen, but I don't think it's completely out of the question to suggest that 15-25K capacity amphitheater shows could be moved and played in 70-80K capacity football stadiums.
The bold is why it’s a dumb analogy, they are completely different when it comes to the financials of it.
