Lost Shows

There are two shows I can not find in any database.

1) Late August 1993 at Sewanee, TN

2) 1994 in the streets at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN

Does anyone else know of these shows? Setlists?

the Swennee show I believe was in 1994. I know a few people who went to the 94 show. http://www.antsmarching.org/setlists...hp?ShowID=2621 I don't think I have that show. If they did play in August, 93 at Swennee, it would have to be the 24th-26th. They were in Athens before then, and back in c'ville on the 27th.

DMB played Nashville a few times in 94, I don't know what you mean by 'in the streets', literally, or the name of a bar. http://www.antsmarching.org/setlists...hp?ShowID=2675

    http://www.antsmarching.org/setlists...hp?ShowID=2712

    were both at the 328.

The show in Nasville was actullay in the street in front of the KA hose at Vanderbilt. It was not at 328. It was litteraly a stage in the street. It was around the time that the band got their first big tour bus.

Does that ring a bell with anyone?

it's probably a true 'lost' show. Unless someone comes up with a tape of it, we'll probably never know any more about it then what you described. Often, in 92-early 94, DMB played frat houses, but if the general public (i.e., people who taped DMB in college towns) didn't know about it, the shows would just go untaped. There are probably about 100 shows like that which have occured but were never taped.

sorry, but thanks for letting us know about another 'missing' show!

    I've heard of that before.
I think it was early March, 1994. That's one of those shows where a few people over the years have mentioned it.

I'll confirm there was a (likely untaped) outdoor show at Sewanee on Thursday August 26th. I was a freshman there and it was my first week of college, the university hosted an all are welcome 2 set show at Lake Cheston amphitheater. The University arranged it as part of orientation/matriculation social activities. With that, Remember 2 things was included in my freshman textbook purchases from the bookstore. I remembered the March 94 show as my second DMB show, and have that tape with the missing jazzy Ants, presumably from joWall's source, as well as the interview DJM did for the college radio station 91.3FM and played 2 songs on air. There was a bit of a ticket scandal for the second Sewanee show in 3/94, as the band's meteoric rise saw more demand than supply at Cravens, and the plain blue cardstock, unserialized tickets were counterfeited at a Kinko's and the show was slammed with the police overwhelmed. (not involved but knew of the fraud). One of my dorm neighbors dressed up in a top hat and carried an Ibanez electric guitar and walked into the show through the backstage security, claiming to be in the band and got away with it. Those were the days... I came of age before burning CDs was a thing and haven't had a tape deck in years, but I kept a box of bootleg cassettes I knew I'd come back to one day.

Thanks for the info! I've updated the Almanac accordingly.

BTW, if you ever come across that box of tapes and find anything interesting, there are people who would love to convert it to digital and get it into circulation!
