How much (if any) of BTCS was recorded analogue?

Some, but probably not all. I'm guessing an analog master was produced to cut the OG vinyl from, but for the recording process? There was almost certainly some digital steps during that time. You can still produce a stunning and dynamic final master even with digital processing during recording, see Porcupine Tree- In Absentia and Deadwing for examples. Both were recorded almost entirely in Logic, but then mastered out to analog tape.

According to Lillywhite the first three albums were all analogue affairs throughout.

As Doby said, Lillywhite has indicated that the Big 3 were all analog

I don't think that's the case, mainly because I don't think Sterling was still cutting analog in '98

Yeah it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the '98 BTCS vinyl was cut from the CD-DA files. 24-bit was just starting to show up in 1998 (I think Pilgrim was one of the earliest recordings and a Pat Metheny record) and vinyl was a novelty for major label US releases.

Good to know. If not for what is sure to be a bombed re-release at some point, then some day when the band stops touring and somebody decides to focus on the archives properly.

He'd be the expert of course. I would be very very surprised if he had somehow avoided any of the non-analog gear at The Plant while recording though. It would be fun to get a comprehensive list of the gear used for BTCS at some point, someone must have been keeping detailed studio notes.

Lillywhite has a book coming out soon I think. Maybe it'll be covered!

There used to be a couple of really great industry magazines devoted to recording tech and every couple of months they would spotlight a recent album, detailing a bunch of the gear, patch paths, techniques, etc... they were very cool and instructive for young budding enthusiasts. I remember reading one on Ok Computer and it was amazing. Seeing something like that for BTCS would be nearly as exciting as the album for me.

So there is no news on this vinyl being reissued this year? The anniversary is next month!

No info but I have to believe that the next best time to release this is next year for the bands 30th anniversary.

I got all angry for a second thinking you meant the 30th anniversary of BTCS.

Next year would be fantastic... but if I were to bet, it'd be on BTCS25. (disclaimer: I have absolutely no inside info, it's just my own personal hunch)

Nah, they don't want it to get in the way of the Everyday 20th anniversary re-release. You haven't heard Dreams of our Fathers until you've heard it on vinyl!

The most anticipated studio album to be released on vinyl by this band, and they haven't been able to put it out yet. It would fucking hilarious if Everyday vinyl gets released before BTCS.

This would imply that they care, or have been making an effort to get it out over the past 1.5 years.

I'd buy Everyday on vinyl with a proper remaster, unironically

Nope, just some conjecture. I'd imagine very few people know the full truth of what happened.

Their social media is awful. They post the album cover, write the caption “How about listening to it today?”, posh an Instagram story asking for your favorite song from it, and then a story promoting the song “Snow Outside”

    So dumb

Dmb’s social media is like a parody of itself at this point. So incredibly tone deaf and boring. #SeeYouOnTheRoad
